Special Meeting on Somerset County ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan on 2/23

The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders will hold a Special Meeting on the County “ADA” Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan on Tuesday February 23, 2016 immediately following the regular Freeholder Meeting at 6:30 p.m.This special meeting is open to any citizen of the County and feedback is appreciated as to how the County can better serve those of the public with disabilities. Copies of the updated draft of the “ADA” Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan is available at the Freeholder’s Office, third floor, County Administration Building, 20 Grove Street, Somerville, NJ, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Freeholders Meeting Room, 3rd floor, County Administration Building, 20 Grove Street, Somerville, New Jersey. Somerset County holds county-wide history event

Somerset County Weekend Journey through the Past logo

The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, in collaboration with thirty local historical organizations and tourism partners, has designated the weekend of October 10 & 11, 2015 “Weekend Journey through the Past.” During this two-day period, many of the County’s significant historic sites will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, and 12:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. This year’s event will feature four (4) “first time” participating sites: The Hageman Farm in Somerset (Franklin Twp); the Texier House Museum in Watchung; Blawenburg Reformed Church in Blawenburg (Montgomery Twp.); and the Dr. J. Vermeule House in Green Brook. Many of the sites have significant Revolutionary War histories which have contributed to the area’s designation as the “Crossroads of the American Revolution State Heritage Area”. Scam Using Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Phone Number

Scammers are using the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office phone number and impersonating themselves as sheriff’s office personnel to get victims to make payments on false warrants. “The public should know that the sheriff’s office always serves warrants in person and will never call for money or personal information,” Sheriff Frank J. Provenzano said. If you have received any calls from scammers, call the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office at 908-231-7140 ext.9. If you are a victim of a scam, you can file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission at www.fcc.gov/complaints
