County’s Spring and Fall Slow-Pitch Softball Leagues Forming

Teams are being sought for the Middlesex County Parks and Recreation Office’s Adult Slow Pitch Softball Leagues, with sessions planned for both Spring and Fall. Those interested can register now and begin play as early as March 2016. Registration is now open. Little League season has started

On Saturday, April 11, Dunellen’s youngest athletes, enrolled in the Dunellen Recreation Department’s T-Ball, Coach Pitch, and Softball programs, and the Dunellen Little League walked from Washington Park to McCoy Park in the annual Opening Day Parade. Acting Recreation Director Alex Miller, Dunellen Little League President Barbara McGuane, and Mayor Bob Seader addressed the players and their families at a brief ceremony at the end of the parade. April Perrine, who had starred in the Dunellen High School musical “Annie” sang the National Anthem and all of the season’s coaches and players were introduced. This season, only ten 11 and 12 year old children signed up for the Major League. Those players were incorporated into the Green Brook Little League teams. McGuane mentioned the Dunellen Little League is hoping to rebuild the program, keeping the Minor League age divisions active. Continue Reading →
