Dunellen Halloween Parade to Have New Route

The Dunellen Halloween Parade will have a different route this year. For decades, the parade snaked through downtown and ended in Washington Park. However, this year, the event which is in its seventieth year, will instead be starting in Washington Park with registration starting at noon on Sunday, October 28. In order to participate in the costume contest, residents must register prior to the start of the parade. At 1 p.m., revelers will march down Washington Avenue to Columbia Park where the parade will loop one time around the track. Continue Reading →

Halloween Activities Happening in Dunellen

There are several Halloween activities happening in Dunellen this weekend. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28
CHILDREN
The Dunellen PBA #146 & Dunellen Fire Department’s 5th Annual Trunk or Treat will be held Friday, October 28 at the Dunellen Fire House from 5-7pm. ADULTS
Avellino’s Pizzeria & Sports Bar will host its Halloween Party on Friday, October 28 starting at 7pm. The event features a costume contest and live music from members of the band Sloppy Joe. Those in costume are eligible for drink specials and giveaways. Continue Reading →

Halloween Events at East Jersey Old Town

The Middlesex County Office of Culture and Heritage will be holding free Halloween-themed programs at East Jersey Old Town Village at 1050 River Road in Piscataway. Children between the ages of 5 and 9 can make two different Halloween-themed crafts on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 at 7pm. The first is a spooky and fun ghost foam door hanger. The second craft is a Halloween lantern window sign. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Halloween Parade – 2015

The 66th Annual Halloween Parade was held on Sunday, October 25. After over six decades, there have been a few changes: the parade is no longer held on Halloween night, silver dollars aren’t given out to participants, and this year instead of walking past through the downtown, the parade had a new path. As Grand Marshall, Faber School’s new principal Gary Lubisco led the parade from Lincoln Avenue to Front Street to Washington Avenue to Dunellen Avenue. He was escorted by the Dunellen High School band, Mayor Bob Seader, members of the Dunellen Recreation Commission, and numerous costume contest entrants. Police, fire, and rescue squad vehicles flanked the ends of the parade, protecting participants. Continue Reading →

Halloween Parade 2014

The 65th Annual Halloween Parade was held on Sunday, October 26, 2014. This year’s Grand Marshall was Clem Santy who was Dunellen’s recreation director for 52 years. Judging took place in Washington Park. All participants received a ribbon from Mayor Bob Seader and pretzels from Santy. Winners included a family rock band, a weatherman, and a dog dressed as a turtle. Continue Reading →
