On 6/30/2016 at 9:30 am – A Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol was called to Kline Place for the report of an individual sleeping in a vehicle. Investigation revealed that the man had an outstanding warrant from Middlesex County. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. On 6/30/2016 at 8:21 am – Patrol responded to a residence on Bound Brook Road for the report of a bicycle theft. On Thursday, June 6, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) held their annual NJ awards ceremony at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. The ceremony recognized officers in the state’s law enforcement organizations for their extraordinary efforts in the prevention of car crashes through DWI enforcement. Three officers from the Dunellen Police Department were recognized: Sgt John Doherty, Ptl Nicholas Goldman and Ptl Marcin Nierodzik. Dunellen Police promotes Slow Down Initiative at Faber

On Thursday, April 21, Dunellen police officers gathered with children from John P. Faber Elementary School to expand the Middlesex County “Slow Down in Our Town” pedestrian safety program. This program was created by Freeholder James Polos in 2006 in an effort to raise awareness to pedestrian safety. In an effort to combat speeding in residential neighborhoods, “Slow Down in Our Town” enlists the use of a signs supplied by the Middlesex County Traffic Safety Program funded by New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. Over the next few weeks, twenty signs will be placed in the areas surrounding Faber Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School and Washington Park. However, studies have shown that signs permanently erected on streets become so commonplace that motorists often ignore them. Continue Reading →

On 3/30/16 @ 1:50am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Walnut Street. The vehicle was stopped for not having a front license plate and the driver was found to have an active warrant for her arrest. She was arrested, processed and later posted bail and was released. On 3/26/16 @ 11:49pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. On 2/29/16 @ 1:14am – A Bound Brook resident was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for swerving and obstructing traffic. The driver was found to be intoxicated and arrested. He was brought to headquarters to be processed where he was found to be over double the legal limit. Dunellen Police Save Second Life with Narcan

Dunellen Police Department have saved their second person using Narcan. At 2:01 a.m. today, Wednesday, February 17, Sergeant DelBuono, Patrolman Daniel and Patrolman Pepe were dispatched to a house on New Market Road near Vail and Center Streets. Upon arrival, the policemen realized that the residence was actually located in Piscataway and notified dispatch. Once inside, they observed that a Point Pleasant resident was unresponsive and exhibiting agonal breathing, indicating a heroin overdose and her boyfriend who is a resident at the house, confirmed that she had a history of heroin use. Patrol officers administered a dose of Narcan at 2:08 a.m. When there were no changes in symptoms, they administered at second dose at 2:13 a.m. Following the second dose, Piscataway police and parametics arrived.
