Dunellen Schools
Dunellen has three public schools: one each for grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. In addition, there is schooling outside the town system for children with special needs who are not mainstreamed.
The school district is one of the smallest districts in New Jersey, and currently does not participate in the Interdistrict Public School Choice program. Although the number of students may be small, Dunellen is known for its award-winning sport teams, musical programs, and other extracurricular activities. Several graduates have gone on to nationally ranked universities and colleges. Its middle school chess team has placed in several state-wide competitions. There is also a very active scouting program for both boys and girls in Dunellen.
Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their children’s educational development, and to participate in the PTO and other school based clubs.
