On 10/30/2016 at 10:01 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. An investigation revealed that the man had a no-bail warrant out of Union County. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. On 10/30/2016 at 2:40 am – A Bound Brook resident was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, and contempt of court following a suspicious vehicle check. An investigation revealed that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Springfield in the amount of $1,500. An investigation revealed that she had a warrant for her arrest out of Union Township (Hunterdon). She was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters where she was processed and received a new court date. On 8/28/2016 at 9:21 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following an investigation of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of North and Washington Avenues. “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign in effect

Beginning August 19 and running through September 5, local and state law enforcement officers including the Dunellen Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols, looking for motorists who may be driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs as part of the 2016 Labor Day Statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high-visibility enforcement backed up by public educational efforts including national radio and television advertisements, posters, banners and mobile video display signs. The campaign looks to curtail impaired driving during the busy summer travel season, including the Labor Day holiday period. As part of the initiative, the Division of Highway Traffic Safety provides grants to local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to run the two-week campaign. “There is a zero tolerance message for this campaign. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober party with a court date. On 7/27/2016 at 8:04 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol officers were called to investigate a dispute. During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the involved parties had an outstanding warrant from Dunellen. Held the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a community event focused on promoting a positive relationship between police and the community they are hired to serve and protect as well as encouraging neighborly camaraderie as a way to keeping neighborhoods safe. Established in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), U.S. Department of Justice, National Night Out started out with a simple concept. Local residents were encouraged to sit on their front porch for an hour with the lights on to show that they were watching out for their neighbors. Suspects sought in Dunellen shooting

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Jeff Nelson of the Dunellen Police Department said today that authorities are searching for suspects who opened fire on two men who were wounded as they stood outside a rental hall in the borough. The two men, whose names are being withheld, were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where they are being treated for gunshot wounds. The men were shot at 6:30 p.m. on July 10, 2016 as they stood outside the rental hall, located at the intersection of North Washington Avenue and Front Street in the borough. The suspects were riding in a white minivan when they approached the victims, and fled after firing an undisclosed number of shots. The investigation is active and is continuing. Continue Reading →

On 6/30/2016 at 9:30 am – A Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol was called to Kline Place for the report of an individual sleeping in a vehicle. Investigation revealed that the man had an outstanding warrant from Middlesex County. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. On 6/30/2016 at 8:21 am – Patrol responded to a residence on Bound Brook Road for the report of a bicycle theft. Officers Honored For DWI Enforcement

On Thursday, June 6, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) held their annual NJ awards ceremony at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. The ceremony recognized officers in the state’s law enforcement organizations for their extraordinary efforts in the prevention of car crashes through DWI enforcement. Three officers from the Dunellen Police Department were recognized: Sgt John Doherty, Ptl Nicholas Goldman and Ptl Marcin Nierodzik. Dunellen Police Report | May 2016

On 5/30/2016 at 1:44 pm – Patrol responded to a 911 call for a possible drug overdose at a North Avenue residence. Officers arrived to find an unconscious female surrounded by evidence of heroin use. Patrol administered two doses of Narcan Naloxone which reverses the effect of opiates. After the second dose, the victim regained consciousness.
