Dunellen Police Report | May 2017

On 5/28/2017 at 9:11 pm – A North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on Prospect Avenue. He was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for traffic violations and fictitious plates. Further investigation determined he provided officers with a false name to conceal an outstanding warrant out of Plainfield. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Plainfield Police Department. Dunellen Police Report | April 2017

On 4/30/2017 at 3:27 am – A Somerville resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and four counts of contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop for driving without headlights on. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for testing and issued a court date. Active warrants were located from Bridgewater, Raritan, and Bound Brook. Dunellen Police Report | March 2017

On 3/25/2017 at 6:55 pm – Police responded to South Avenue for the report of an abandoned vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located an unoccupied Nissan Sentra with fresh damage. A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed that it had been stolen out of Middlesex Borough earlier that morning. The car was turned over to Middlesex Police Department for processing before being returned to its rightful owner. Dunellen Cracking Down on Distracted Drivers This April

The Dunellen Police Department will be cracking down on distracted drivers during April as part of New Jersey’s “U Drive. U Text. U Pay.” enforcement campaign. Beginning April 1 and running through April 21, the high visibility law enforcement initiative will target motorists who engage in dangerous distracted driving behaviors such as talking on hand-held cell phones and sending text messages while driving. Rumors of Planned Trouble at DHS Found Not Credible

On Sunday, March 12, Dunellen parents with children enrolled in the Dunellen School District received the following notice from Superintendant Gene Mosley via text, email, and/or phone call. “Over the weekend there were rumors circulating that a student who was scheduled to return to school on Monday, March 13, was planning to cause harm in the high school. School administrators, along with the superintendent, and members of the Dunellen Police Department investigated throughout the weekend and found those rumors to be unsubstantiated and not credible. When your children arrive for school tomorrow they will be greeted by school administrators, the superintendent, and members of the Dunellen Police Department who are all working together to make sure that every day in the Dunellen School District is a good day. Two-Car Traffic Accident Last Friday

Two Middlesex County women were injured on Friday, February 24 when their vehicles collided during the evening’s rush hour. The accident occurred at 5:37 PM at the intersection of First Street and North Washington Avenue. According to Dunellen Police Sergeant Jeffrey Del Buono, a Dunellen resident driving a 2013 Hyundai, east on First Street failed to stop at the stop sign on First Street and North Washington Avenue. An Edison resident driving south on North Washington Avenue in a 2016 Subaru collided into the Hyundai. Dunellen Police Report | February 2017

On 2/27/2017 at 11:45 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop. He gave a false name and was also found to have warrants out of Plainfield and the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. After being processed at Dunellen Police Headquarters and issued a court date, he was then transferred to the custody of the Plainfield Police Department on their warrant. On 2/27/2017 at 2:42 pm – Patrol responded to the Dunellen High School for an activated fire alarm. Dunellen Police Report | December 2016

On 12/26/2016 at 8:35 pm – A Manville resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. An investigation revealed that the driver had an active arrest warrant out of Union Township. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail. On 12/21/2016 at 1:13 am – A Piscataway resident was placed under arrest for contempt Of court following a motor vehicle stop on Route 28. Dunellen Police Report | November 2016

On 11/26/2016 at 9:04 pm – A Plainfield resident was placed under arrest and charged with receiving stolen property following a motor vehicle stop on Front Street. The driver was initially stopped for speeding when it was determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in Plainfield on 11/23/2016. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters where he was processed and subsequently lodged in Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $10,000 bail. On 11/26/2016 at 12:02 am – A North Plainfield resident was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. Dunellen Police Participating in “No-Shave November” Fundraiser

Dunellen Police Department - No-Shave November 2016

Officers from the Dunellen Police Department (DPD) and other local police departments are participating in No-Shave November, a month-long event that funds cancer research and education, help prevent the disease, and aid those fighting the battle. Participants are encouraged to grow their facial hair out during the entire month. Monies raised will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Fight Colorectal Cancer, Prevent Cancer Foundation, and American Cancer Society. So far, the No-Shave November campaign raised over $3.5 million dollars. Continue Reading →
