Vintage Base Ball Club’s Inaugural Season Starts April 7

The Middlesex County Office of Arts and History is sponsoring its first vintage-style baseball team, the Liberty Base Ball Club. The team’s home games will be played at Liberty Field at East Jersey Old Town Village, located at 1050 River Rd., Piscataway. Admission to all games is free. Using rules, uniforms, customs and equipment dating back to the 1850s, the team carries on the tradition of the original Liberty Base Ball Club of New Brunswick which was organized in 1857 and, with a break for the Civil War, played until 1870. Dunellen Police Report | February 2018

On 2/28/2018 at 12:08 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. Because she had several warrants out of South Plainfield, she was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving a new court date. On 2/25/2018 at 9:25 pm – Police responded to a Bound Brook Road business for the report of a stolen wallet. The victim reported that he had left his wallet on the table after dining and had returned to find it missing. Free career-focused courses available to Middlesex County residents

All Middlesex County residents can now take classes, train for new job opportunities and even prepare for various career certifications all for free and all from home with the introduction of SkillUp Middlesex. Middlesex County has launched this free online learning platform that offers over 4,500 courses provided by Skillsoft, a nationally recognized training provider. It builds on the programs offered through the County Office of Workforce Development’s One Stop Career Centers in New Brunswick and Perth Amboy. Dunellen Municipal Alliance Holding Membership Drive

The Dunellen Municipal Alliance (DMA) is looking for members to join its growing committee. The Dunellen Municipal Alliance is a community-based volunteer organization representing families, schools and businesses, along with faith-based and nonprofit organizations in Dunellen. Working together, members implement and follow a strategic prevention plan intended to decrease misuse and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, especially as they relate to town’s youth. The Dunellen Borough Council passed a resolution in January 2016 to recognize DMA as an authorized agency of the municipality. Dunellen Police Report | January 2018

On 1/30/2018 at 10:12 pm – An Edison resident was arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He also had an active arrest warrant out of Elizabeth. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail. On 1/30/2018 at 8:50 am – Police took a walk-in report of credit card fraud from a resident of North Washington Avenue. Faber Nurse Named Support Staff Member of the Year

Anne North, who has been the Faber Elementary School nurse for 12 years, has been named Dunellen School District’s 2017-2018 Support Staff Member of the Year. As the school nurse, North ensures that all steps are taken on a regular basis to help keep the entire school healthy. She is known for making her “rounds” early each morning, checking in on those students that have been out sick, and ensuring that all other students and staff members are having a healthy start to their school day. North goes above and beyond her required duties: pitching in whenever needed and participating in many school activities. She also serves as a member of the Dunellen Rescue Squad. Continue Reading →

Mann selected as Faber’s Teacher of the Year

During a school-wide assembly on December 22, 2017, Faber Elementary School Principal Gary Lubisco, Jr. presented Laurie Mann with the Teacher of the Year award. Mann who has been teaching at Faber for twenty years, has been an active member of Dunellen Public Schools since her first day in the building, attending sporting events, graduations and other activities the students are involved in. According to Lubisco, “Mrs. Mann embodies what every teacher in Dunellen strives for. She is dedicated to the staff and students and cares for every member of the Dunellen Community. Dunellen Students Help Children in Need

In December, Faber Elementary School students in Gina Viola’s 4th grade class donated pajamas to The Great Story Pajama Program. The Great Story Pajama Program, sponsored by Scholastic Book Clubs, gives new pajamas and story books to children living in shelters, group homes and foster care along with children in other programs that support at-risk youth. For every pair of pajamas that are donated, Scholastic donates a book. Twelve students, along with staff members Donna Maloupis and Viola, who participated donated 38 new pairs of pajamas. Dunellen Police Report | November 2017

On 11/27/2017 at 7:12 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with theft of movable property and fraudulent credit card use following investigation into a motor vehicle burglary on Mountainview Terrace on 9/22/2017. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing before being remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. On 11/27/2017 at 4:38 pm – Police took a report of check fraud from a Dunellen resident. This incident remains open.
