Today is National Make a Difference Day and reading about the service event made me think about Larry Anzovino and Tyler Katarsky, two Dunellen residents who recently passed away.
The two were born over half a century apart and so you might think that they would have nothing in common but they did. They loved Dunellen and loved making the world a better place by volunteering.
Volunteering is extremely fulfilling, especially if you are able to use your skills. But sometimes it’s not that easy to find a place that needs you. No problem. Consider me your volunteer matchmaker!
Here is what I am willing to do…
1. If you are someone interested in volunteering but don’t know where to start, email me your skills, what you are ideally interested in doing and if you are open to volunteering outside Dunellen (aka have access to a form of transit). And I will give you some suggestions to follow up on.
1. If you are a non-profit located within 5 miles of Dunellen, I will add you to a “Volunteers Needed” page on Dunellen411. As this will be an evergreen page, please list jobs that are year-round or focused on a long-term assignment (for example: dog walker, tricky tray coordinator). Yes, this does include band parents and altar societies, etc. Share your website, Facebook page, &/or a GENERAL email address.
