Dunellen Police Report | August 2016

On 8/28/2016 at 8:26 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. An investigation revealed that she had a warrant for her arrest out of Union Township (Hunterdon). She was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters where she was processed and received a new court date.

On 8/28/2016 at 9:21 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following an investigation of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of North and Washington Avenues. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters where he was processed and later released to a sober party.

On 8/26/2016 at 1:31 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. An investigation revealed that he had several warrants for his arrest out of Dunellen. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and later posted bail.

On 8/25/2016 at 3:57 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with two counts each of Theft of Movable Property and Wrongful Impersonation after a detailed investigation. He was processed at Dunellen Police Headquarters and released after posting $5,000 bail.

On 8/25/2016 at 2:54 am – A Plainfield resident was placed under arrest and charged with Hindering Apprehension and four counts of Contempt of Court. His vehicle was stopped after a random plate check revealed the registered owner had a suspended license. While speaking with the officer during the traffic stop, the driver provided a false name and date of birth. An investigation later determined he had four active arrest warrants from Dunellen, South Brunswick, and Cranford along with a suspended driver’s license. He was subsequently turned over to the South Brunswick Police Department with a pending court appearance.

On 8/24/2016 at 4:36 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with Eluding, Shoplifting, and Resisting Arrest after patrol was called to a North Avenue business on the report of two male shoplifters. The suspects’ vehicle fled and a short pursuit ensued. One suspect was apprehended after bailing from the vehicle on Myrtle Avenue in Plainfield. He was brought to headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Middlesex County Jail with bail set at $15,000. An investigation into the other suspect remains ongoing.

On 8/22/2016 at 8:37 pm – Patrol took a report of three stolen bicycles on New Market Road. An investigation revealed that the bicycles were unsecured in the rear yard of the address while the owner was away on vacation.

On 8/22/2016 at 12:59 am – A Dunellen resident was arrest for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop on Bound Brook Road. He had a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters and released after posting bail.

On 8/19/2016 at 10:34 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest after patrol on a DWI enforcement detail observed him on the sidewalk in a highly intoxicated state. Upon contact, he became combative. He was transported to the hospital and released with a court date.

On 8/19/2016 at 12:16 pm – Patrol took a report of a stolen bicycle from Faber School. A short while later, patrol observed the bicycle unattended near the intersection of North and Washington Avenues. The bicycle was returned to its lawful owner.

On 8/18/2016 at 10:27 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop. An investigation revealed that she had a warrant for her arrest out of Plainfield. She was arrested, processed, and released after posting bail.

On 8/13/2016 at 3:43 pm – Patrol took a report of criminal mischief on South Washington Avenue. The caller reported that their vehicle had a tire slashed on the previous night. There were no suspects.

On 8/13/2016 at 1:18 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Following an investigation, he was placed under arrest and transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. He was later brought to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for testing and released to the hospital with a notice to appear in court.

On 8/11/2016 at 1:36 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension and Possession of Less than 50 grams of Marijuana. The vehicle was stopped after obstructing traffic and failing to keep right. An investigation determined that he provided a false name to officers to avoid being summonsed for driving with a suspended license. A quantity of marijuana was also located within the vehicle. He was arrested, processed, and subsequently released with a pending court appearance.

On 8/10/2016 at 7:52 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Piscataway. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with court dates in Dunellen and Piscataway.

On 8/9/2016 at 11:13 pm – Patrol took a walk in report of two stolen bicycles at the Dunellen Train Station. The victims stated that both black Mongoose bicycles had been locked at the station earlier that day but noticed they were now gone.

On 8/9/2016 at 2:36 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Front Street. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober party with a court date.

On 8/8/2016 at 7:59 pm – Patrol officers responded to a Front Street residence for the report of neglected animals. Following a joint investigation between Dunellen Police and SCPA Police, two dogs were taken into custody for their safety. Charges against the owner are pending.

On 8/8/2016 at 1:06 am – A Middlesex resident was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop. The vehicle was stopped after failing to observe two stop signs. He was found to have a suspended and expired drivers license along with two active warrants for his arrest. He was arrested, processed, and released after posting bail.

On 8/7/2016 at 10:10 am – A Middlesex resident was arrested for Contempt of Court following a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation. An investigation revealed that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Watchung. He was arrested, processed, and released with a new court date.

On 8/2/2016 at 9:22 pm – A Dunellen resident, a Piscataway resident, and a juvenile Piscataway resident were charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, and Conspiracy. The victim came into police headquarters on 08/01/20216 to report an assault that occurred during the early hours of the morning on North Avenue. An investigation revealed that the three arrested persons physically assaulted a man as he walked home to his residence. They repeatedly punched, kicked and used an “arm bar” on the victim as they searched his pockets and fled with his headphones. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained several injuries requiring medical attention. The two adults were also charged with Employing a Juvenile in Commission of a Crime and were lodged at Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $50,000 bail. The juvenile was subsequently lodged in Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center.

On 8/1/2016 at 4:18 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for Contempt of Court after officers responded to a West Fourth Street address for the report of an assault and criminal mischief. During the investigation, it was discovered that he had several warrants for his arrest. He was transported to headquarters for processing and custody was later transferred to the South Plainfield Police Department on one of the warrants.
