Dunellen Police Report | June 2016

On 6/30/2016 at 9:30 am – A Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol was called to Kline Place for the report of an individual sleeping in a vehicle. Investigation revealed that the man had an outstanding warrant from Middlesex County. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

On 6/30/2016 at 8:21 am – Patrol responded to a residence on Bound Brook Road for the report of a bicycle theft. Investigation revealed that sometime over the previous week, an unknown person had removed a blue mountain bike which was unsecured in the rear of the residence. Information was taken for a report.

On 6/28/2016 at 11:28 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol responded to a verbal dispute. Investigation revealed that the man had an active arrest warrant from Middlesex Borough. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and posted bail.

On 6/27/2016 at 4:04 am – Patrol officers responded to a North Avenue business for an attempted robbery. An unknown male wearing a brown jacket and black hat over his face had entered the business and demanded the proceeds from the register. As police were being called, the individual fled the scene on foot. No weapons were shown, no proceeds were taken, and he fled prior to police arrival. Anyone with further information is directed to contact the Dunellen detective bureau.

On 6/25/2016 at 12:55 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop. Investigation revealed that the man, a passanger in the vehicle, had an outstanding warrant from Watchung. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and posted bail.

On 6/14/2016 at 10:47 pm – Patrol officers responded to a North Avenue residence for a report of harassment. Patrol found that the unwanted party had already left the residence prior to the arrival of police, and the caller did not wish to sign any criminal complaints.

On 6/14/2016 at 9:31 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash on Madison Avenue. Patrol responded to a single car motor vehicle accident and found the driver to be exhibiting signs of impairment. Field sobriety tests were administered and she was placed under arrest. She was transported to the hospital for further testing and was released to the custody of hospital staff.

On 6/14/2016 at 12:44 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol was called to North Avenue for a disorderly person. Investigation revealed several outstanding warrants from other towns for the woman. She was brought to headquarters where she was processed and later released with new court dates.

On 6/13/2016 at 1:31am – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and also arrested for contempt of court. A vehicle was observed using a parking lot to avoid a red traffic signal. Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop and investigation revealed that the passenger provided a false name and date of birth to the officer to avoid being arrested for multiple outstanding warrants. It was found that he had three outstanding warrants for his arrest out of South Plainfield and Piscataway. He was processed and later turned over to South Plainfield Police Department.

On 6/12/2016 at 12:42am – A Hoboken resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct following of an intoxicated male attempted to get in his vehicle at a First Street residence. When patrol arrived, they found the man screaming and being held down by bystanders. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct, processed, and later released on his own recognizance. Shortly thereafter, at 2:04 am, patrol received another call to the same First Street residence that the man was again intoxicated and attempting to leave. He was uncooperative with officers and after a brief struggle and was placed under arrest for a second time and charged with another count of disorderly conduct. He was subsequently released on his own recognizance and transported to Robert Wood Johnson – Somerset for treatment.

On 6/8/2016 at 7:53 pm, patrol responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive male at a Lincoln Avenue residence. Officers arrived to find an unconscious Dunellen resident surrounded by evidence of heroin use. Officers administered 2 doses of Narcan Naloxone. After the second dose, the victim regained consciousness. Care was transferred to the Dunellen Rescue Squad. Empty folds of heroin along with other paraphernalia were recovered from the scene.

On 6/6/2016 at 12:31 am – A Middlesex resident was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. The stop was conducted after patrol observed his car traveling at a high rate of speed, crossing over the double yellow line on Bound Brook Road and committing several other traffic violations. Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was placed under arrest. He was additionally charged with refusal to submit to breath testing. He was then released to a sober party.

On 6/6/2016 at 11:00 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The stop was conducted after a random plate read showed his vehicle to have an expired registration. Additionally the driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle and subsequent search resulted in officers locating a clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana as well as paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance.

On 6/4/2016 at 10:59 pm – A Dayton resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop. The vehicle was stopped after a random plate check revealed that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license as well as an active warrant for her arrest. She was later turned over to Middlesex Borough Police in lieu of her $750.00 warrant.

On 6/3/2016 at 10:29 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after patrol was called to the scene of a single car motor vehicle accident on Dunellen Avenue. The driver had struck a parked vehicle and a tree. Further investigation revealed signs of intoxication. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation where he consented to give samples of his blood which are pending lab results and was released on his own recognizance to the hospital staff.

On 6/3/2016 at 2:15 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to breath testing. His vehicle was observed by patrol crossing over the double yellow line on Walnut Street. Patrol conducted a motor vehicle stop and suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested following field sobriety tests and later refused to submit breath samples.

On 6/2/2016 at 12:56 am – Two Pennsylvania residents were arrested: a Kingston, PA resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and a Forty Fort, PA resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A vehicle was observed by patrol nearly striking a construction cone. Patrol conducted a traffic stop and believed the Kingston resident to be intoxicated. He was placed under arrest following field sobriety tests. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the Forty Fort resident was in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana as well as several glass pipes. Both individuals were processed and later released on their own recognizance.
