Today, the internet retailer Amazon expanded its free same-day delivery service which is a perk for its Prime members. Residents in Dunellen and its neighboring towns are included in the 27 metro areas eligible for the service.
Amazon already provides free two-day shipping of over 30 million products as part of its Prime membership which costs $99 per year. The same-day delivery option which debuted last year with a more limited delivery range is only available for over one million products in forty categories. Items eligible for the perk display a “Prime FREE Same-Day” or “Prime FREE One-Day” icon.
Although there is no minimum required purchase for the free two-day shipping, customers must spend over $35 on eligible items to qualify for same-day delivery. Orders placed in the morning (typically until noon) will be delivered by 9pm. Orders placed in the afternoon or evening will receive one-day delivery.
According to Amazon’s website, same-day delivery will be available seven days a week most days of the year, with limited availability on certain holidays and high-volume shopping days. It will not be available on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
