The Dunellen Board of Education (BOE) is currently accepting applications through May 15, 2016 for its tuition-based integrated preschool program at John P. Faber School. The 2016-2017 school year will be the first time the BOE will allow applications from surrounding school districts. Admission is selected by a lottery system with residents of Dunellen getting preferred access to the program.
The two preschool classes will consist of 15 to 18 students, several of whom require special education service, with the remainder being typically developing 4 year olds. The program based on the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards will be supervised by Director of Special Services Michael Botti along with Faber School Principal Gary “JR” Lubisco.
For the 2016-17 School Year, the cost of the program for Dunellen residents will be $3,800 for the school year; non-Dunellen Residents will be considered at an annual tuition of $4,800. The decade-old program is tuition based to supplement the costs of providing a dual certified preschool/special education teacher in each classroom along with the appropriate number of teacher assistants, and 100% of the educational services that are provided to the other students in Faber Elementary School.
Currently, the program is Monday through Friday 8:30AM until 2:10PM. However, according to Dunellen School District Business Administrator Brian DeLucia, an extended day program is being considered for the coming school year to bridge the gap until the after-care program begins at 3:00PM.
“We hope to continue of the successful program and if the demand of our community exceeds our current capacity, we will investigate opening up a third preschool class for 2016-2017,” said DeLucia.
Applicants must be 4 years old by October 1, 2016. Applications must be completed online at http://goo.gl/forms/5sWS6JvRVf and the Spanish version of the application can be found at http://goo.gl/forms/BQAgubytbb
