Dunellen Police Save Second Life with Narcan

Dunellen Police Department have saved their second person using Narcan.

At 2:01 a.m. today, Wednesday, February 17, Sergeant DelBuono, Patrolman Daniel and Patrolman Pepe were dispatched to a house on New Market Road near Vail and Center Streets. Upon arrival, the policemen realized that the residence was actually located in Piscataway and notified dispatch.

Once inside, they observed that a Point Pleasant resident was unresponsive and exhibiting agonal breathing, indicating a heroin overdose and her boyfriend who is a resident at the house, confirmed that she had a history of heroin use.

Patrol officers administered a dose of Narcan at 2:08 a.m. When there were no changes in symptoms, they administered at second dose at 2:13 a.m. Following the second dose, Piscataway police and parametics arrived. Shortly afterwards, the woman regained consciousness and was able to walk to the transporting ambulance under her own power. At that time, the scene was turned over to the Piscataway Police Department and the paramedic unit for transport to RWJ Somerset. She is expected to make a full recovery.
