Dunellen Police Report | December 2020

On 12/30/2020 at 4:53 pm, police received a walk-in report of burglary. The victim, a resident of Penfield Place reported that sometime during the previous day an unknown person had accessed his apartment and removed several items.

On 12/29/2020 at 10:23 am, police responded to Walnut Street for the report of theft. The victim reported that two juveniles had stolen several political signs from her front lawn.

On 12/26/2020 at 6:36 pm, police responded to Orange Street for the report of an unconscious man. When examining the victim, they observed signs of an opioid overdose and administered Narcan Naloxone. The victim regained consciousness and care was transferred to the Dunellen Rescue Squad.

On 12/26/2020 at 5:17 pm, police responded to Prospect Avenue for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had shot a paintball at her vehicle and believed it to be part of an ongoing neighbor dispute regarding parking.

On 12/23/2020 at 5:30 pm, police responded to Orange Street for the report of an unknown medical problem. Police found to find the victim unresponsive and exhibiting signs of an opioid overdose. Police administered Narcan Naloxone and initiated lifesaving efforts. After several minutes, the victim regained consciousness and was turned over to Dunellen Rescue Squad for further treatment and transportation to the hospital.

On 12/22/2020 at 7:27 pm, police received a walk-in from a man seeking assistance. Investigation revealed that he had been reported as a missing person out of Sayreville. The victim’s family was contacted and they were reunited.

On 12/20/2020 at 9:10 pm, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of harassment. The victim reported receiving a series of harassing text messages from his neighbor. Both parties were spoken to and explained the process for signing complaints with the court.

On 12/14/2020, a Newark resident was charged with receiving stolen property following investigation into his arrest on 12/9/2020. He had been in possession of products which were confirmed to have been stolen by him in Plainfield shortly before his arrest. He was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 12/14/2020 at 12:28 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with obstructing the admin of law, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest after a motor vehicle stop in which he was the passenger. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 12/13/2020 at 3:56 pm, police responded to Pulaski Street for the report of criminal mischief. The caller wished to report that she believed an unknown person had caused damage to the undercarriage of their vehicle.

On 12/12/2020 at 9:37 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 12/11/2020 at 10:57 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Prospect Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 12/10/2020 at 7:14 am, police responded to Gavornik Park off the dead-end of Pulaski Street for the report of a disabled motor vehicle stuck in the park. Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen out of Cranford during the night. The vehicle was secured to be returned to its rightful owner.

On 12/9/2020 at 9:51 pm, police responded to Front Street for the neighbor dispute about lost or stolen packages. Involved persons were explained the process for signing complaints with the court.

On 12/9/2020 at 9:16 pm, a Newark resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, contempt of court, disorderly conduct, obstructing the admin of law, and lewdness following a pedestrian stop on North Avenue. He provided officers with a fictitious name to conceal warrants for his arrest out of Newark and prevent prosecution. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing where his antics resulted in the latter three charges. He was issued a court appearance notice and transported to RWJ Somerset for an evaluation. Lastly, he was in possession of a large number of items which were believed to have been recently stolen and the items were retained for safekeeping and further investigation.

On 12/8/2020  at 10:31 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with theft by deception (2 counts) and contempt of court after police responded to Dunellen Avenue. Two victims came forward alleging that he had scammed them out of money under the guise of selling them an item online After receiving payment, all further communications were blocked. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. Additionally he was found to have several warrants for his arrest out of Piscataway. He was later released after posting bail and receiving new court dates.

On 12/7/2020 at 7:39 am, police responded to Walnut Street for the report of theft by deception. The victim reported that an unknown person had opened a line of credit in the victim’s name.

On 12/7/2020 at 3:49 am, a Woodbridge resident was arrested and charged with theft by deception (2 counts), identity theft, forgery (3 counts), wrongful impersonation (2 counts), and credit card theft following investigation into an incident first reported on 1/2/2020 in which he allegedly opened several student loans and lines of credit in the victim’s name. He was apprehended following a motor vehicle stop by Boonton Police Department. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 12/5/2020 at 11:23 pm, a North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Madison Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 12/4/2020 at 10:41 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with theft of movable property following a walk-in report of theft at Dunellen Police Headquarters and subsequent investigation. The victim alleged that the man removed an item from the victim’s vehicle. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 12/4/2020 at 12:30 pm, police received a walk-in report of bias criminal mischief. The victim, a representative of a church, reported damage to a statue outside of the premises.

On 12/3/2020 at 12:42 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, possession of marijuana, marijuana distribution, possession of drug paraphernalia, and contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He gave officers a fictitious name to prevent proper prosecution and conceal a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date, as well as a new court date for Plainfield.

On 12/2/2020 at 8:10 pm, police responded to Third Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that during the prior night an unknown individual had accessed an unlocked vehicle and removed items.
