Dunellen Police Report | October 2020

On 10/31/2020 at 11:28 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 10/31/2020 at 2:50 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident on Fourth Street. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 10/31/2020 at 1:57 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop for operating with no headlights. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 10/30/2020 at 12:55 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft. The victim, a resident of Walnut Street reported that an unknown person had stolen two political signs from his front lawn.

On 10/29/2020 at 10:33 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the reported theft. The victim reported that an unknown man had removed from the premises a wallet which had fallen out of the victim’s pocket. The incident was captured on surveillance footage and remains open.

On 10/28/2020 at 7:47 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with theft of services after staff at a North Avenue business reported that he had ordered and consumed food and alcohol before refusing to pay. Additionally, warrants were located out of Dunellen and Long Hill. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 10/24/2020 at 11:17 pm, a Jersey City resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after police response to First and Jackson for the report of a motor vehicle accident in which he had struck a parked vehicle at a high rate of speed. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 10/24/2020 at 10:52 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he was located with the item in his vehicle by police conducting an after-hours check of McCoy Park. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance notice.

On 10/24/2020 at 12:52 pm, police observed the Clerk’s Office mailbox outside of Borough Hall had been smashed and the contents strewn about. Security footage observed a man several minutes earlier striking the box and causing the damage. This case remains open.

On 10/22/2020 at 7:25 pm, police received a walk-in report at Police Headquarters for a resident of Jackson Avenue who had fallen for an online scam and sent an unknown person in prepaid gift cards.

On 10/22/2020 at 4:33 am, a Whiting resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples after improperly parking his vehicle in the Dunellen Police Department parking lot, specifically in the spot reserved for the Chief of Police. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing where he refused to provide breath samples. He was later released to a sober friend.

On 10/21/2020 at 11:19 pm, a Manville resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Warrenville Road. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 10/21/2020 at 9:41 am, police responded to Gertrude Terrace for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that during the overnight hours, the back window to his parked vehicle had been smashed.

On 10/20/2020 at 10:43 pm, police were dispatched to a residence on Prospect Avenue for a disturbance. While responding, police officers heard a gunshot. Police quickly responded and secured the scene, joined by officers from Green Brook and Piscataway. Seven individuals were arrested and brought to Police Headquarters for investigation. During the investigation, a .380 handgun was recovered. This case was forwarded to the Detective Division for follow-up and charges are pending.

On 10/20/2020 at 8:07 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue in which she provided a fictitious name to avoid several motor vehicle summonses. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance date.

On 10/20/2020 at 6:17 pm, police received a walk-in report of criminal mischief from a resident of North Avenue. The victim reported that the cable lines on the outside of her residence had been maliciously cut.

On 10/19/2020 at 10:36 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia (crackpipe), and being under the influence of CDS after police responded to a single car accident on North Washington Avenue in which he had struck a parking meter, light pole, and flipped his vehicle onto its side. The Dunellen Rescue Squad and Dunellen Fire Department assisted on scene. He was then brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 10/19/2020 at 3:14 pm, police responded to Oak Parkway for the report of credit card fraud. The victim reported several fraudulent online retail charges. This case remains open.

On 10/19/2020 at 1:42 am, a Bound Brook resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and disorderly conduct after he provided police with a fictitious name to avoid several borough ordinance violations. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later transported to RWJ Somerset for a medical evaluation.

On 10/17/2020 at 12:33 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 10/12/2020 at 5:21 pm, police responded to Lincoln Avenue for the report of identity theft. The victim wished to report that an unknown person had filed an unemployment benefits claim in their name.

On 10/8/2020 at 2:21 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of South Plainfield and was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. She was released after receiving a new court date.

On 10/3/2020 at 2:27 am, a Warren resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving suspended after multiple DWIs, and driving suspended multiple times after DWI, after police found him passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck a building on North Avenue. Additionally, he had a no-bail warrant for his arrest out of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 10/2/2020 at 10:13 pm, a South Carolina resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Since he had warrant for his arrest out of Piscataway, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.
