Dunellen Police Report | January 2021

On 1/29/2021 at 3:00 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute (3rd degree) and possession of drug paraphernalia after suspicious items were observed following investigation into a fire at a residence on Center Street. Police seized nine (9) adult marijuana plants as a result of the investigation. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 1/28/2021 at 11:11 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Scotch Plains. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 1/28/2021 at 8:08 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with shoplifting after police responded to a North Avenue business. She was found to have concealed items in a duffle bag. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 1/26/2021 at 9:03 pm, an Edison resident was arrested as a fugitive from justice following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have an extraditable warrant for his arrest out of Delaware. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail awaiting extradition to Delaware.

On 1/24/2021 at 2:47 pm, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of simple assault. The victim alleged that an ongoing neighbor dispute had turned physical. Both parties were explained the process of signing complaints with the court.

On 1/23/2021, a Newark resident was charged with shoplifting following investigation into an incident at a North Avenue business on 1/19/2021. He was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 1/22/2021 at 12:28 pm, police received a walk-in report from the same victim as the terroristic threats incident stating that she had again been assaulted by the same unknown acquaintance. The victim was treated by EMS.

On 1/22/2021 at 11:27 am, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of terroristic threats. The victim reported that an acquaintance had threatened her and that the argument had turned physical. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

On 1/20/2021, a California resident was charged with theft by deception following investigation into an incident reported on 8/10/2020 in which a Dunellen resident was fraudulently scammed out of money believing he was purchasing items. He was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 1/19/2021 at 1:30 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Staff reported that an unknown male had entered the store, taken several items and fled on foot.

On 1/17/2021 at 8:54 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following police response to a motor vehicle accident on the North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 1/6/2021 at 7:55 pm, patrol responded to New Market Road for the report of simple assault. The victim reported that a man known to her had pushed her following a verbal argument. During the investigation, the victim became uncooperative with responding officers and did not wish further action.

On 1/5/2021 at 11:07 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and theft after police was called to North Avenue. The caller reported that someone had entered their basement and was attempting to steal items. He fled prior to police arrival but was located nearby, in possession of an item which had been stolen from the residence. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance notice.

On 1/2/2021 at 9:18 am, police located an abandoned vehicle on South Second Street which had been reported stolen out of Plainfield during the prior night. The vehicle was secured to be returned to its rightful owner.

On 1/1/2021 at 1:43 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following police response to a motor vehicle accident with overturned car on Center Street. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.
