The hallways of Faber School will sound a little different this fall. Three of its teachers, Sue Gavin, Jane Campbell and Lou DeLauro have retired from the Dunellen Schol District.
Sue Gavin was been a physical education teacher at Faber School. In addition to teaching physical education, she also was responsible for planning many exciting school events including National Bike to School Day, ACES, the Bike Rodeo, and creating a garden in the courtyard of the school. Gavin has been a supportive teacher to all staff during her time, willing to lend a hand and help both students and staff.
Jane Campbell taught many grades during her tenure at Dunellen. She always treated students and staff with respect and kindness. Campbell’s four boys went through the school system and two grandchildren are currently in school. She was respected and well-liked by students and staff and will be missed.
Lou DeLauro also taught many subjects; most recently, he was the technology teacher. DeLauro was responsible for hundreds of Dunellen students including Olympian Sydney McLaughlin to juggle and his middle school chess program often won state honors.
According to Principal Gary Lubisco, Jr. “The three teachers who are retiring will be missed by the staff and students. Ms. Gavin has always been there to encourage students to do their best. Ms. Campbell has been an asset to the staff and students. The students will miss the excitement and fun they have in her class. Mr. DeLauro brings a vitality to the school. The students will miss the variety of assignments and learning to juggle and play chess with him.”
