Dunellen Police Report | September 2016

On 9/27/2016 at 9:46 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Madison Avenue. An investigation revealed that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Springfield in the amount of $1,500. He arrested and transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and was released after posting bail.

On 9/25/2016 at 2:33 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on West Fourth Street. He was arrested and transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. After processing, he was released with a court date.

On 9/22/2016 at 4:34 am – A Scotch Plains resident was placed under arrest and charged with criminal mischief. Patrol was initially called to a Prospect Avenue residence for a dispute between friends. The investigation determined the man smashed his friend’s apartment window following a verbal argument and then fled the scene. Patrol was able to locate the suspect a short distance away and place him under arrest. He was processed, photographed and subsequently released with a pending court appearance.

On 9/20/2016 at 12:29 am – A Kendall Park resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. An investigation revealed that he had an active warrant for his arrest in the amount of $500 out of New Brunswick. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and was released after posting bond.

On 9/14/2016 at 2:50 am – A Kendall Park resident was placed under arrest and charged with eluding, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Patrol units observed a vehicle displaying fictitious plates and driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on New Market Road. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it increased its speed and began to flee. A motor vehicle pursuit led into Piscataway Township where the driver crashed into a residential home and fled on foot with a second suspect. Dunellen Police units were able to apprehend the driver a short distance away without further incident. Two black handgun-style BB guns were located within the suspect’s vehicle along with drug paraphernalia. He was fingerprinted, processed, and subsequently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $25,000 bail.

On 9/13/2016 at 7:57 pm – A North Brunswick resident was placed under arrest for contempt of court following a report of suspicious persons behind a North Avenue business. After patrol made contact with the woman, it was determined she had a no-bail warrant from the Middlesex County Sheriffs Department along with a second warrant for $183 out of Plainfield. She was processed, photographed and subsequently turned over to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department.

On 9/12/2016 at 9:32 am – A Brooklyn, NY resident was placed under arrest and charged with exhibiting a fraudulent driver’s license following a motor vehicle stop on Washington Avenue. The driver provided officers with a fraudulent driver’s license from Belarus after being stopped for having a smashed-out rear windshield and no registration. He was fingerprinted, processed, and subsequently transported to Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.

On 9/10/2016 at 8:31 pm – A Clark resident was arrested and charged with theft by deception, forgery, and criminal conspiracy following an investigation into stolen checks from a Dunellen resident. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later brought the Middlesex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

On 9/5/2016 at 11:18 am – A Bound Brook resident was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after patrol was called to a theft in progress of a bicycle on Prospect Avenue. He was observed with the stolen bicycle and placed under arrest. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 9/3/2016 at 11:50 pm – Two Dunellen residents were placed under arrest and charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief. Patrol units were dispatched to a Dunellen Avenue residence on the report of suspicious persons. An investigation determined the two men forcibly attempted to gain entry into a residence they did not live at, damaging a door frame and screens in the process. They were fingerprinted, processed, and subsequently lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $15,000 bail.

On 9/1/2016 at 1:43 pm – A Plainfield resident, a 17-year-old juvenile from Bound Brook, a 16-year-old juvenile from Plainfield and a 15-year-old juvenile from Plainfield were all placed under arrest and charged with receiving stolen property. Patrol units were initially called to investigate a male that was having a medical emergency inside a vehicle on Dunellen Avenue. Further investigation determined the vehicle was stolen out of Piscataway Township and that it nearly collided with a telephone pole after the driver had a seizure. One juvenile passenger rendered aid to the seizing driver while the adult suspect and a second passenger fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. Dunellen Police units were able to apprehend all four suspects shortly thereafter. With the assistance from the Green Brook Police Department, the vehicle was located and returned to its owner. All suspects were released with pending court appearances.
