Dunellen Police Report | July 2016

On 7/31/2016 at 2:50 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober party with a court date.

On 7/27/2016 at 8:04 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol officers were called to investigate a dispute. During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the involved parties had an outstanding warrant from Dunellen. He was placed under arrest and brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. He was later transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in lieu of bail.

On 7/27/2016 at 5:22 pm – Patrol officers took a walk-in report for theft of American Flags from a Dunellen Avenue residence.

On 7/26/2016 at 11:25 pm – A North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and underage alcohol consumption after patrol was called to Prospect Avenue for an unconscious male. The intoxicated male began acting in a highly disorderly manner, and then subsequently fought with officers as they attempted to place him under arrest. He was transported to the hospital due to his intoxicated state and a copy of the charges along with a court date were mailed to his residence.

On 7/26/2016 at 1:27 am – A Ledgewood resident was arrested and charged with two counts of contempt of court after patrol was called to a North Avenue location for a male sleeping in a parking lot. Investigating officers recognized the individual as a wanted person out of Piscataway. Officers confirmed two outstanding warrants for the man, totaling $50,000. He was placed under arrest, brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, and later turned over to the Piscataway Police Department.

On 7/25/2016 at 4:19 pm – Patrol responded to Mountainview Terrace for the report of an attempted burglary which had occurred sometime during the previous night. Evidence was collected and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information may contact Det. O’Neill.

On 7/25/2016 at 10:38 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for an expired registration. Investigation revealed that the operator had a suspended driver’s license as well as an arrest warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office. He was processed and custody was transferred to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

On 7/21/2016 at 10:19 pm – Patrol took a report of an assault which had occurred several hours earlier on North Avenue. Information and photographs of the victim were taken. The investigation remains ongoing.

On 7/21/216 at 5:48 pm – Patrol responded to Madison Avenue for the report of the theft of a child’s stroller. The theft was reported to have taken place several days earlier as the stroller was left unsecured outside of the residence. Information was taken for a report.

On 7/21/2016 at 8:47 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with theft of movable property, possession of burglar tools and criminal mischief, after patrol was called to the Dunellen Train Station for the reported theft in progress. Investigation revealed that the man was actively attempting to cut the lock to a secured bicycle which did not belong to him. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a summons to appear in court.

On 7/20/2016 at 9:26 pm – Patrol responded to New Market Road for a report of a stolen bicycle. It was reported that the bicycle stolen had been left unattended on the property for several hours. Upon returning, the victim located another bicycle, which did not belong to them, in the original bicycle’s place. Information was taken for the police report.

On 7/20/2016 at 4:33 pm – Patrol responded to New Market Road for the report of an assault. The victim was treated by the Dunellen Rescue Squad and transported to RWJBarnabas-Somerset for further treatment. The victim was uncooperative with patrol’s investigation into the incident.

On 7/16/2016 at 12:26 am – A North Plainfield resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated after patrol was alerted via 911 of a vehicle traveling out of Middlesex in a reckless manner. Patrol located the vehicle in the parking lot of a North Avenue business. After an investigation, the driver was placed under arrest. She was processed and later released to a sober party.

On 7/9/2016 at 12:56 am – A Piscataway resident was placed under arrest and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of less than 50 Grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Patrol observed a vehicle travel through a red traffic signal. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and investigation revealed a quantity of marijuana individually wrapped, packaging material and a digital scale within the vehicle. He was processed and later released after posting bail.

On 7/1/2016 at 12:24 am – A Dunellen resident was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes. A vehicle was observed by patrol driving on Bound Brook Road without headlights. A motor vehicle stop and investigation revealed a large amount of drug paraphernalia along with hypodermic syringes within the vehicle. The driver was issued a summons, processed, and released with a pending court appearance.
