Faber School staff and students learned about Memorial Day with help from the American Legion and instruction aid and veteran Don Musson.
Dunellen American Legion Post #119 lead off the ceremony with an honor guard. This was followed by Choir Director, Michelle Nannas leading the audience in the Star Spangled Banner. Students then learned about the history and importance of the day.
Bill Lamire announced the American Legion’s coloring contest winners: first place went to 4th grade student Grace Walker, second place went to 5th grade student Sophia Valez and third place went to 4th grade student Anaya Henry. The contest is done every year with the help of Faber School art teacher Kelly Vetter.
Musson capped off the event by educating the students about the history of Memorial Day and the importance of honoring U.S. veterans. Several students recreated the historic decorating of graves for the school to see.
