Last year, a team of former Destroyers competed in the NY Giants Snow Bowl, a flag football tournament benefiting the Special Olympics New Jersey. The team raised over $7,000, placing them 7th place for fundraising. This year, they are hoping to more than double that amount, with a goal of $15,000.
The main fundraiser event will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Gabriele’s Bar & Grill, 1351 Centennial Ave, Piscataway from 1pm-4pm.
This family friendly event is geared towards sports enthusiasts and will include special guests such as Giants greats Eric Dorsey, Odessa Turner and Stephen Baker, as well as NJ native and Super Bowl Champ Shawn Mayer. “Sideline View Radio” with SIRIUS XM’s Cristiano Oliveira and former ESPN host Sergio Rodriguez will be broadcasting live from the event.
The silent auction will include prizes such as game sticks from NJ Devils Andy Greene and Bryce Salvatore, an Adam Larson-signed NJ Devils puck, a gift basket from “Real Housewives of NJ” cast member Kathy Wakile (including a signed copy of her cookbook), a signed copy of Eric LeGrand’s book, and an Eli Manning-signed Ole Miss helmet.
Members of the Gotham City Cheerleaders and the License Plate Guy with his “famous” Giants plates will also be in attendance. Autographs and photos will be available for additional donations.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children 12 & under/Senior Citizens/Veterans. Ticket includes buffet style food, soda, water and a door prize raffle ticket. There is also a cash bar available. For tickets or information, please contact Chris Maynard at cm142034@aol.com or 908-240-0667.
