Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Dunellen

valentine-d411Still looking for suggestions to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Here are some fun and affordable ideas just around the corner!

Roxy and Duke’s Roadhouse has two special events happening on Sunday, February 14. In the afternoon, starting at 1pm, is the Jumpin’ Jivin’ Swingin’ Sunday with three musical acts: Crash Gordon and Debra Dynamite, April Mae & the Junebugs, and special guest Wendell Jones of the Reach Around Rodeo Clowns. Admission is $15 and includes a free dance lesson. In the evening, starting at 7pm, Jersey City’s Bad Boys of A Cappella, CHOICE, will be playing two sets of R&B and Doo Wop a cappella starting at 8pm. Admission is $15.

For those who appreciate more traditional jazz, Maggie Murray’s Pub House has a free jazz jam specializing in music from the ’30s and ’40s every Sunday afternoon including this Valentine’s Day.

Zupko’s Tavern is hosting a Treat Yo’Self Valentine’s Day Party starting at 7pm, with a special $20 three-course menu, photo booth, psychic readings, and a special showing of “Magic Mike XXL” in the back of the tavern at 8pm.

For a dinner at home, the Acme has heart-shaped crabcakes and Sapore’s is featuring heart-shaped ravioli (fun meal for kids too!).

Speaking of kids, there are still a few spots open at Warrior Martial Arts & Fitness Center‘s Parents Night Out Event. Drop off is at 5pm; Pick up is at 9pm. Price is $20 ($10 per additional child) and includes pizza, movie, and activities.

What to do with that time alone? Of course, there are several local restaurants to choose from… The Dunellen Hotel has a special menu including a porterhouse steak for two and oysters on the half shell. And White Castle locations including Green Brook have reserved seatings for an affordable yet memorable meal.
