Roxy & Duke’s to Host Christmas Dinner for Local Needy

Roxy & Duke’s Roadhouse will be hosting Christmas dinner on December 25 from 4pm-8pm. The meal is free to those who have no other place to go or are financially challenged. The roadhouse has previously held free holiday dinners for local families on an invitation-only basis but this year, owners Jim Parks and Noreen Dunn decided to open its doors to all in need. “We have no idea what to expect,” Parks said. Recycling for the Holidays

The Middlesex County Improvement Authority’s Recycling Division has issued an advisory regarding recycling holiday items.

“While our recycling brochures are very detailed, we can’t cover everything,” said MCIA Recycling Manager Ed Windas. “There are specialty items that are synonymous with this time of year, and we want residents to know how to properly dispose of them.”

Products like greeting cards, envelopes and gift wrap are generally classified under mixed paper, with one major caveat, Windas said. “We do not want nor can we take foil wrapping paper,” he said. Even though most ornaments are primarily manufactured using glass or plastics, the Division also cautions residents against heaping these embellishments in with the recyclables. “Those are also on the not-wanted list,” Windas said. Santa to be special guest at 4-H Breakfast

On Saturday, December 5, 2015 Middlesex County 4-H invites you to enjoy “Breakfast with Santa and His Furry and Feathered Friends” at the Middlesex County
4-H Center, located at 645 Cranbury Rd. in East Brunswick.Parents and children are invited to enjoy a pancake breakfast, meet Santa, and meet Santa’s furry and feathered friends at our petting zoo. There are two seatings for breakfast and activities: at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Admission prices are $8 for adults, $6 for children (ages 9 & under), and includes breakfast, 1 picture per family with Santa, petting zoo, and more. Free holiday program at East Jersey Old Town Village

This season’s holidays offer plenty of music, good cheer and opportunities for togetherness. The Middlesex County Office of Culture and Heritage invites you to experience it all as it hosts its “Seasonal Traditions” holiday program at East Jersey Old Town Village in Piscataway. These special events, all free of charge, will be held at the Village from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. Scheduled activities include:

Children’s Craft Session: 2-3 p.m.

2013 Dunellen Holiday House Decorating Contest

Show off your holiday spirit! Make sure you decorate your house and yard as the Dunellen Recreation Commission has brought back “The Annual House Decorating Contest”.
