Barbara Guhl has won teacher of the year for John P. Faber School. Guhl has been teaching in Dunellen for 38 years. She originally taught kindergarten and first grade at Whittier School where she was chosen as teacher of the year during the 1993-1994 school year. She now teaches first grade at John P. School Bonding Approved by Dunellen Voters

The official results from the Middlesex County Board of Elections are in. The school bonding proposal was approved, 463 to 230. This will now allow the Dunellen School District to undertake the renovation and upgrades of Dunellen’s three schools, and expend and issue bonds to the amount not to exceed $23,800,000.00 in order to fund the project. Approval of the question also permits the Board of Education to use $5,827,996 of the $10,322,280 borrowing margin of the Borough of Dunellen. The State of New Jersey will provide debt service aid to cover 57.03% of the total project’s cost of $31.3million. Continue Reading →

Dunellen Class of 2018 Graduates in Washington Park

The sky was overcast and occasionally a light drizzle cut through the evening’s humidity. But that did not dampen the spirits of Dunellen High School’s graduating seniors and their families, friends, and community gathering in Washington Park this past Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Faber teachers Roth and Kipnis to retire

Two Faber Elementary School teachers, Chris Roth and Janice Kipnis will be retiring this Thursday. Faber principal Gary Lubisco, Jr. stated “these teachers have dedicated their lives to the students in Dunellen. They will be missed by all. We wish them the best in their retirement.”
Roth was a part of the Dunellen school system for 36 years, teaching special education and helped numerous students succeed in school and in life. Faber Nurse Named Support Staff Member of the Year

Anne North, who has been the Faber Elementary School nurse for 12 years, has been named Dunellen School District’s 2017-2018 Support Staff Member of the Year. As the school nurse, North ensures that all steps are taken on a regular basis to help keep the entire school healthy. She is known for making her “rounds” early each morning, checking in on those students that have been out sick, and ensuring that all other students and staff members are having a healthy start to their school day. Mann selected as Faber’s Teacher of the Year

During a school-wide assembly on December 22, 2017, Faber Elementary School Principal Gary Lubisco, Jr. presented Laurie Mann with the Teacher of the Year award. Mann who has been teaching at Faber for twenty years, has been an active member of Dunellen Public Schools since her first day in the building, attending sporting events, graduations and other activities the students are involved in. According to Lubisco, “Mrs. Mann embodies what every teacher in Dunellen strives for. She is dedicated to the staff and students and cares for every member of the Dunellen Community. Dunellen Students Help Children in Need

In December, Faber Elementary School students in Gina Viola’s 4th grade class donated pajamas to The Great Story Pajama Program. The Great Story Pajama Program, sponsored by Scholastic Book Clubs, gives new pajamas and story books to children living in shelters, group homes and foster care along with children in other programs that support at-risk youth. For every pair of pajamas that are donated, Scholastic donates a book. Twelve students, along with staff members Donna Maloupis and Viola, who participated donated 38 new pairs of pajamas. Faber Celebrates First Bike to School Day

John P. Faber School joined schools from around the country to celebrate National Bike to School Days on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. The inaugural event was organized by Diana Starace of Safe Kids Middlesex County and Sue Gavin, a Physical Education teacher at Faber School. Approximately 200 staff, students, police and fire department members, and parents participated. The students were lead to the school by the fire department who also provided a fire truck to end the line. When the students arrived at the school, they were surprised with new pallet bicycle racks that were donated by Anthony DeFilippis, the vice president of Pedestal Pallets. Continue Reading →

Faber School Has Multicultural Celebration

Dunellen’s English as a Second Language (ESL) department hosted a night of fun, food and games for the families and students in its program. The event was hosted by Faber School ESL teacher, Stacey Malinowski; ESL Aide, Ana Torres; and Middle School and High School ESL teacher, Cathy Cooper. They were assisted by staff from Faber School and Director of Special Services, Amanda Lamoglia. Families brought food native to their home country to be enjoyed by all who attended. Spring Concert Held at Faber

On May 3, Faber Elementary School held a concert that showcased talents of the fourth and fifth grade chorus. The concert, which focused on the theme of friendship, It included a mix of current and more traditional songs: “Rise” by Katy Perry, “Danny Boy” arranged by John Ringo, “We Believe in Music” by Teresa Jennings, and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars. The featured soloists were Mary-Lou Espana and Gwendolynn Dubrow. According to Michelle Gomes, Faber’s Vocal Music Director and coordinator of the concert, “All of the choir students did an amazing job. Their commitment to the weekly rehearsals and this concert shows how much they enjoy performing.”
