Faber Celebrates First Bike to School Day

John P. Faber School joined schools from around the country to celebrate National Bike to School Days on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. The inaugural event was organized by Diana Starace of Safe Kids Middlesex County and Sue Gavin, a Physical Education teacher at Faber School. Approximately 200 staff, students, police and fire department members, and parents participated. The students were lead to the school by the fire department who also provided a fire truck to end the line. When the students arrived at the school, they were surprised with new pallet bicycle racks that were donated by Anthony DeFilippis, the vice president of Pedestal Pallets. Continue Reading →

Lt. Gov. Guadagno to visit Dunellen

New Jersey’s first Lieutenant Governor, Kim Guadagno will be in Dunellen this Saturday. The Dunellen Republican Organization (DRO) is hosting a Meet & Greet with the gubernatorial candidate on May 13 from 2:30-4:30 PM at the Dunellen Arts Annex on 131 North Washington Avenue. The event, organized primarily by Dunellen Councilman Jason Cilento, is open to Dunellen residents. However, according to the organization’s Facebook page, seating is limited. Faber School Has Multicultural Celebration

Dunellen’s English as a Second Language (ESL) department hosted a night of fun, food and games for the families and students in its program. The event was hosted by Faber School ESL teacher, Stacey Malinowski; ESL Aide, Ana Torres; and Middle School and High School ESL teacher, Cathy Cooper. They were assisted by staff from Faber School and Director of Special Services, Amanda Lamoglia. Families brought food native to their home country to be enjoyed by all who attended. County Celebrates Birthdays of Nonagenarian Residents

The Middlesex County Office of Aging and Disabled Services will once again hold Birthday Bashes for senior citizens age 90 and over as part of its National Older Americans Month celebration. Due to the popularity of these events, four lunchtime parties will be held this year. Dunellen residents are to attend the Piscataway luncheon scheduled for May 10 at 11 a.m. at the Piscataway Senior Center. Traditionally, about 150 seniors age 90 and over attend each lunch. Spring Concert Held at Faber

On May 3, Faber Elementary School held a concert that showcased talents of the fourth and fifth grade chorus. The concert, which focused on the theme of friendship, It included a mix of current and more traditional songs: “Rise” by Katy Perry, “Danny Boy” arranged by John Ringo, “We Believe in Music” by Teresa Jennings, and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars. The featured soloists were Mary-Lou Espana and Gwendolynn Dubrow. According to Michelle Gomes, Faber’s Vocal Music Director and coordinator of the concert, “All of the choir students did an amazing job. Their commitment to the weekly rehearsals and this concert shows how much they enjoy performing.”

Dunellen Police Report | April 2017

On 4/30/2017 at 3:27 am – A Somerville resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and four counts of contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop for driving without headlights on. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for testing and issued a court date. Active warrants were located from Bridgewater, Raritan, and Bound Brook. Primary Ballot Drawing Moved to Monday April 17, 2017

According to the N.J.S.A. 19:23-24, the upcoming ballot drawing for the 2017 Primary Election is scheduled to fall on Good Friday, a legal holiday observed by State, County and Local Government Offices on April 14, 2017. In view of this, County Clerks’ Offices throughout the State, including the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office, will hold the ballot drawing for the 2017 Primary Election at 3 p.m. on the following business day — Monday, April 17 — in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:11 that permits for such exceptions. The public may attend the drawing, however, no video recording will be permitted during the drawing of the ballot.
