Dunellen Police Report | September 2019

On 9/30/2019 at 2:25 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault with a weapon, and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession, after police were called to an incident of reckless driving near the intersection of Madison and North Avenues. Upon arrival, police observed the man actively attempting to cause serious bodily injury with a weapon. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters and then remanded to the Middlesex County Jail. Also during this incident, another Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court as it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen; his case was processed and he was released after posting bail.

On 9/29/2019 at 4:51 pm, police responded to a New Market nonprofit for the report of theft. The victim reported that they had mislaid their cell phone while attending a party and that it was subsequently stolen.

On 9/28/2019 at 12:23 pm, police responded to Grove Street for the report of harassment. The victim reported a string of harassing phone calls.

On 9/28/2019 at 11:14 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop. Since he had a warrant out of Middlesex Borough, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 9/27/2019 at 4:10 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court after he was stopped for obstructing the sidewalks and found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/27/2019 at 3:14 pm, police responded to North Washington Avenue for the report of a theft. The victim reported that an unknown person had removed an item that was placed outside of his apartment.

On 9/26/2019, a Dunellen resident was charged with defiant trespass following investigation into an incident on Oak Parkway on 9/22/2019. He was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 9/26/2019 at 2:19 pm, an Iselin resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/24/2019 at 11:02 pm, patrol responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting.

On 9/24/2019 at 1:50 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of burglary and criminal trespass. The victim reported that her garage was forced into and several items removed.

On 9/24/2019 at 12:38 pm, police received a walk-in report of identity theft.

On 9/24/2019 at 11:36 am, police responded to Dunellen Public Works for the report of illegal dumping. DPW reported that a person had illegally dumped items. The owner of the property was located and removed the items.

On 9/24/2019 at 8:52 am, a South Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II narcotic (adderalll and klonopin), possession of drug paraphernalia, and prescription drugs without a prescription bottle following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. Additionally, he had warrants for his arrest out of South Plainfield and Sayreville. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail and receiving new court dates.

On 9/22/2019 at 2:56 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of an individual who had shoplifted. Upon investigation and review of the security footage, a Plainfield resident was charged with shoplifting. She was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 9/22/2019 at 2:40 pm, police responded to Oak Parkway for the report of criminal trespass. The victim reported an unknown person had entered his home. This case remains open.

On 9/22/2019 at 1:07 pm, police responded to Fairview Avenue for the report of two aggressive dogs fighting. Humane Law Enforcement Office investigated.

On 9/21/2019 at 2:44 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 9/21/2019 at 12:30 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on New Market Road. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/20/2019 at 4:21 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft. The victim reported that on 9/8/2019 an unknown female had stolen a personal item while the victim was at a North Avenue business. This case remains open.

On 9/20/2019 at 4:17 pm, police responded to Prospect Avenue for the report of animal cruelty. Police ensured that the dog was being properly taken care of.

On 9/20/2019 at 2:40 pm, police responded to Second Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle and stolen a box of handgun ammunition.

On 9/20/2019 at 9:57 am, police responded to Provident Bank of North Avenue business for the report of fraudulent checks. This case remains open.

On 9/20/2019 at 9:38 am, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported an unknown person had forced access through the plastic car window and rummaged the contents but did not take anything.

On 9/19/2019 at 6:57 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after police responded to the report of several individuals fighting on Prospect Avenue. Investigation revealed that she had a warrant for her arrest out of Upper Township. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/18/2019 at 3:46 pm, a Jersey City resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in which he was a passenger. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Newark. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 9/18/2019 at 9:07 a, police received a walk-in report of a suspicious incident. The reporting party wished to report an email scam which she had almost fallen for. No actual loss occurred.

On 9/17/2019 at 1:31 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with theft after police was called to a North Washington Avenue business. He had ordered items without intention to pay. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance date.

On 9/16/2019 at 2:09 pm, police received a walk-in report at Dunellen Police Headquarters. The victim, a resident of First Street reported that several fraudulent charges were attempted on her credit card at a North Avenue business. This led to the discovery that her unlocked vehicle had been entered and her wallet stolen. Security footage was obtained and several suspects have been identified. This case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau for follow up.

On 9/16/2019 at 1:39 pm, police responded to Dunellen Avenue for the report of a bicycle theft.

On 9/16/2019 at 12:59 am, a North Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by police and known to have a warrant for her arrest out of Plainfield. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/15/2019 at 5:57 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50g and possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle on Second Street near Sanford. He was found in the vehicle actively engaged in marijuana use. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 9/14/2019, a Phillipsburg resident was charged with assault on an EMT (3rd degree), possession of a weapon (4th degree), and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (3rd degree) following investigation into an incident on 9/13/2019 in which he attacked members of the Dunellen Rescue Squad who were attempting to render aid. He was sent a court appearance notice.

On 9/14/2019 at 11:06 am, police responded to Prospect Avenue for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported damage to a lock on his residence, believed to be part of an ongoing landlord/tenant dispute.

On 9/14/2019 at 9:33 am, police responded to Third Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle sometime during the prior night and stolen several items.

On 9/13/2019 at 12:09 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by police and known to have warrants for his arrest. He had a warrant out of Dunellen as well as a no-bail warrant out of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 9/12/2019 at 6:32 pm, police responded to Oak Parkway for the report of a burglary. The victim reported that he has been having ongoing issues with a contractor regarding payment. The victim alleges that earlier in the day the contractor had entered his home without permission and intentionally caused damage.

On 9/12/2019 at 11:31 am, police responded to First Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle during the previous night and removed a set of keys which were located nearby.

On 9/12/2019 at 8:39 am, police responded to First Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle during the previous night and removed loose change and several dollars in U.S. Currency.

On 9/11/2019 at 7:06 pm, police responded to North Washington Avenue for a landlord/tenant dispute. The involved persons were explained the process for filing at landlord/tenant court.

On 9/11/2019 at 4:45 pm, police responded to South Avenue for the report of illegal dumping. The owner of the discarded items was located and removed the items.

On 9/11/2019 at 10:02 am, police responded to Dunellen Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle during the previous night and removed personal items.

On 9/11/2019 at 7:59 am, police responded to Dunellen Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle during the previous night and removed a wallet containing a driver’s license and debit card.

On 9/11/2019 at 7:25 am, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle during the previous night and rummaged through the contents.

On 9/10/2019 at 10:32 pm, a Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by police and known to have a warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/10/2019 at 2:37 pm, police received a walk-in report of a suspicious incident. The reporting party stated that she had received an email she thought was from a friend requesting her to buy gift cards and provide the pin numbers. After purchasing the cards, the reporting person became suspicious and confirmed with her friend that the email did not actually come from them. No loss occurred.

On 9/10/2019 at 11:01 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on West Fourth Street. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of Plainfield. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Plainfield Police Department on their warrant.

On 9/9/19 at 5:15 pm, police responded to Dunellen Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that he had left the driver’s side window to his vehicle open and that an unknown person had accessed the vehicle, removing a wallet and several credit cards, charging items to some of the cards.

On 9/9/19 at 3:18 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Bordentown. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 9/8/2019 at 7:15 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after police responded to investigate the report of a highly intoxicated person on North Avenue. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office on their warrant.

On 9/6/2019 at 9:58 pm, a North Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He found to have a warrant for his arrest out of North Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 9/6/2019 at 6:12 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a simple assault. The parties had gotten into a physical altercation regarding their differing political beliefs. The participants were explained the process for signing complaints with the court.

On 9/6/2019 at 3:27 pm, police responded to Lincoln Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported an unknown person accessed their unlocked vehicle during the previous night and stolen money as well as other items.

On 9/5/2019 at 12:17 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of lost property. The reporting party claimed to have mislaid U.S. Currency while at the business. Security footage was reviewed but did not show the funds being mislaid.

On 9/5/2019 at 8:38 am, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked car during the previous night and removed a purse containing U.S. Currency and several credit cards. The missing purse was found nearby, empty.

On 9/4/2019 at 5:58 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by police and known to have a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 9/4/2019 at 4:37 pm, police received a report of a structure fire on First Street. First responding officers ensured that all occupants safely exited the house. Firefighters from Dunellen and Middlesex arrived to extinguish the fire.

On 9/4/2019 at 12:15 pm, police received a walk-in report of burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime during the night prior, an unknown person had accessed the victim’s unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the contents.

On 9/2/2019 at 8:23 pm, a passerby reported hearing what he believed was the sound of a single gunshot in the area of South Second Street. The witness then observed several individuals running out of a fenced-in property from a gap in the fence and entering a nearby dark colored sedan which took off at a high rate of speed. Officers from Dunellen, Green Brook, and Piscataway responded. Due to the large amount of area to be searched, Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office responded with a team of Explosive Detection K-9s. The area was searched for several hours with no evidence of a firearm discharge being located.

On 9/1/2019 at 10:24 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine (3rd degree), distribution of cocaine (2nd degree), possession of marijuana over 50g (4th degree), distribution of marijuana (3rd degree), possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts), and drug paraphernalia for distribution (4th degree). Another Plainfield resident was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Plainfield. Police encountered the defendants while investigating an apparent altercation in a North Avenue business’ parking lot. Further investigation led to the discovery of cocaine and marijuana as well as manufacturing paraphernalia. Both defendants were brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. The woman was released after posting bail and receiving a new court date. The man who was in possession of the drugs was remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.
