Classic Movie Screenings at East Jersey Old Town Village

Step back in time to the 1950s with free film screenings at the East Jersey Old Town Village. To celebrate the village’s extended hours throughout the summer (open until 8 pm on Thursdays in June, July and August), movies will be shown on July 18, August 8 and August 22. All showings begin at 5:30 pm at the Indian Queen Tavern.

  • July 18 – “Singin’ in the Rain”: This renowned, high-energy musical stars Gene Kelly as a silent film actor who transitions to the ‘talkies’ with the help of his best friend (Donald O’Connor) and an ambitious young actress (Debbie Reynolds).
  • August 8 – “North by Northwest”: One of Alfred Hitchcock’s most acclaimed thrillers, starring Cary Grant in a tale of mistaken identity and a cross-country chase. Can he trust a mysterious woman (Eva Marie Saint) and evade a devious spy (James Mason)?
  • August 22 – “Some Like it Hot”: In this classic comedy, two musicians (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) witness a mob hit and go on-the-run disguised as women. Together they fall into trouble, and in love with a singer played by the one and only Marilyn Monroe.

    • The films complement the County’s newly opened exhibit, ‘Mid-Century New Jersey: The Garden State in the 1950’s, at the Cornelius Low House Museum. The museum is also open until 8 pm on Thursdays for the summer.

    The Indian Queen Tavern at East Jersey Old Town Village is located inside Johnson Park at 1050 River Road in Piscataway. The Cornelius Low House is located at 1225 River Road, Piscataway.
