Dunellen Police Report | June 2019

On 6/29/2019 at 9:14 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Staff members reported that a man had entered the store and removed several items. When confronted, he fled on foot towards Plainfield prior to police arrival.

On 6/28/2019 at 11:29 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of Green Brook and was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 6/25/2019 at 9:07 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with several counts of aggravated sexual assault following investigation into a walk-in report at headquarters. He was taken into custody without incident and remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 6/25/2019 at 12:17 am, a Jersey City resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 6/23/2019 at 11:37 pm, a Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by police who were aware of warrants for his arrest. He had a no-bail warrant out of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office as well as warrants out of Raritan Borough and Somerville. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later transferred to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 6/23/2019 at 4:58 pm, a New Brunswick resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was found to have a no-bail warrant for his arrest out of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later transferred to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 6/23/2019 at 2:00 pm, police received a walk-in report of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that they had parked their car on Bound Brook Road and that it had been stolen during the previous night. This case remains open.

On 6/23/2019 at 9:28 am, police responded to North Avenue Extension for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported damage to a door. This case remains open.

On 6/20/2019 at 10:09 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of theft. The victim reported that an unknown person had stolen a purse. This case remains open.

On 6/19/2019 at 12:12 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft. The victim reported mailing gift cards which were used although they never reached their intended recipient. This case remains open.

On 6/17/2019 at 9:30 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of Watchung. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Watchung Police Department on their warrant.

On 6/16/2019 at 11:18 pm, two Plainfield residents were arrested following a motor vehicle stop on North Ave. The man was charged with hindering apprehension and also had warrants for his arrest out of Fanwood and the Union County Sheriff’s Office. He had provided fictitious information to conceal the warrants for his arrest. The woman was charged with hindering apprehension of another. They were both brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. She was released with a court appearance date. He was transferred to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 6/16/2019 at 2:25 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue for speeding. Because he had a warrant for his arrest out of South Plainfield, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 6/15/2019 at 10:44 pm, a Middlesex resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop for several moving violations on Bound Brook Road. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 6/15/2019 at 10:16 am, police received a walk-in report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had damaged the window on their rental vehicle.

On 6/15/2019 at 7:36 am, police responded to the parking lot of a Bound Brook Road business for the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had cut the locks to their trailer and stolen a racing motorcycle.

On 6/13/2019 at 11:26 am, police received a walk-in report of burglary and sexual assault. This case remains open.

On 6/13/2019 at 10:46 am, a Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of a North Avenue business. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a new court date.

On 6/13/2019 at 6:39 am, while investigating another incident, police observed several discarded items which were later found to be the result of a burglary to a motor vehicle on Second Street. Surveillance footage showed two males canvassing the area at 3:21 am and removing several items from the vehicle. Still missing is a laptop belonging to the Dunellen Board of Education.

On 6/13/2019 at 6:16 am, police responded to Jefferson Avenue for the report of burglary to a motor vehicle. An unknown person had accessed the unlocked vehicle, removing a jacket, wallet, and work-related items. Some of the items were found discarded nearby.

On 6/13/2019 at 5:03 am, a Jersey City resident was mailed a criminal complaint for theft following police response to an incident at a North Avenue business. Staff members reported that several hours earlier, the woman had received an item but did not have sufficient funds to pay for it. When she did not return to pay as promised, they contacted the police.

On 6/12/2019 at 4:59 pm, police received a walk-in report of a dog bite. The victim reported being bitten by a dog while jogging that morning. This case remains open.

On 6/10/2019 at 7:03 am, police responded to Third Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported seeing three men steal from their parked vehicle and flee in a green Honda Odyssey with an unknown temporary registration. This case has been forwarded to the detective bureau.

On 6/10/2019 at 12:17 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue in which he was a passenger and not wearing a seatbelt. He provided officers with a fictitious name in order to conceal a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 6/8/2019 at 11:49 pm, a Middlesex resident was arrested for contempt of court. He was located following investigation into a hit-and-run accident earlier in the evening in which a child on a bicycle was stuck and the driver of the vehicle fled. He was found to have a no-bail warrant out of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. He was processed at the Dunellen Police Headquarters and turned over to the Prosecutor’s Office on their warrant.

On 6/8/2019 at 4:34 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. He was found to have warrants out of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and Middletown Township. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Union County Sheriff’s Office on their warrant.

On 6/7/2019 at 1:37 am, a Fanwood resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 6/6/2019 at 12:43 pm, police responded to a Grove Street business for the report of illegal dumping. Staff reported that the previous evening, a large white commercial vehicle had dumped several couches and beds on the property.

On 6/5/2019 at 8:59 am, police received a walk-in report of theft by deception. The victim reported a loss of money which he sent to a scammer believing that a vehicle was being purchased.

On 6/5/2019 at 3:01 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following response to a motor vehicle accident on North Ave Extension. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters and Robert Wood Johnson Somerset for processing before being turned over to a sober friend.

On 6/3/2019 at 3:04 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting in progress. police located two female juveniles that had concealed several items in their bags. The items were returned to the store and the juveniles were turned over to their parents.

On 6/3/2019 at 11:55 am, a South Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Woodbridge and Westfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving new court dates.

On 6/2/2019 at 12:56 am, a Somerset resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction (2 counts) following a motor vehicle stop on Bound Brook Road. He became disorderly after receiving a motor vehicle citation. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later transported to Robert Wood Johnson Somerset for a medical evaluation.
