Dunellen Police Report | November 2018

On 11/29/2018 at 11:11 pm, a South Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Bound Brook Road. She was brought to Middlesex and Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 11/29/2018, a Elizabeth resident was charged with theft by deception, deceptive business practices, and theft of movable property following investigation into an incident reported on 11/19/2018 of a Dunellen resident who was the victim of fraud over three years. He was sent a court appearance notice.

On 11/28/2018 at 3:01 pm, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of a motor vehicle crash rollover with serious injuries and entrapment. Dunellen Fire Department and Dunellen Rescue Squad assisted in freeing the trapped occupants and transporting for medical attention. The Traffic Safety Division is currently investigating this crash.

On 11/27/2018 at 11:23 pm, a North Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have a no-bail warrant out of Piscataway. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Piscataway Police Department on the warrant.

On 11/27/2018 at 4:15 pm, police responded to a South Washington Avenue business for the report of simple assault. All involved were explained the procedure for filing charges.

On 11/27/2018 at 5:01 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (narcotics) and using CDS following a motor vehicle accident in which he struck two parked cars. He was brought to Green Brook Police Headquarters and Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing before being released to a sober family member.

On 11/26/2018 at 11:52 am, police responded to North Washington Avenue for the report of a burglary. The victim reported that unknown person had accessed the office of their business sometime over the weekend and ransacked the place, taking financial records and other items of value. This case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

On 11/24/2018 at 6:03 pm, police received a walk-in report of harassment. The incident was documented.

On 11/24/2018 at 12:16 pm, police received a walk-in report of burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that his vehicle was parked on Jackson and that sometime during the previous night an unknown person had accessed his unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet and checkbook. Later in the day, a resident of Second Street located the missing wallet and checkbook and turned them into police. All items were recovered except cash which had been in the wallet.

On 11/24/2018, a Newark resident was charged with shoplifting following investigation into an incident on 10/17/2018 at a North Avenue business. He was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 11/21/2018 at 9:38 pm, police responded to Prospect Avenue for the report of a simple assault. All parties denied medical treatment and were advised on the process for signing complaints with the court.

On 11/21/2018 at 8:14 am, police responded to North Avenue Ext. for the report of an attempted burglary. The victim reported leaving the residence the previous morning and returning the previous evening and finding fresh pry marks near the lock on his front door.

On 11/20/2018 at 8:48 pm, police responded to Walnut Street for the report of a theft. The victim reported the theft of a package delivered to their front porch earlier in the day.

On 11/19/2018 at 11:19 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, resisting arrest by flight, disorderly conduct, contempt of court (warrant out of Piscataway) and aggravated assault on a police officer (3 counts) after patrol attempted to stop him for several bicycle violations. Several minor injuries were to Green Brook and Dunellen officers were sustained during the incident. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and was later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 11/19/2018 at 2:36 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft by deception. The victim reported having been the victim of a scam over the course of the previous three years. A suspect was identified and this case remains open. (See above)

On 11/19/2018 at 10:46 am, police received a walk-in report of credit card fraud. The victim reported several fraudulent charges.

On 11/18/2018 at 5:52 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary. The victim reported several items missing from his apartment.

On 11/16/2018 at 10:00 am, police responded to Dunellen Avenue for the report of a burglary. The victim reported that an unknown person had forcibly entered the home sometime during the previous week.

On 11/14/2018 at 6:52 pm, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that unknown person had used a sharp object to scratch several expletives into their parked vehicle.

On 11/12/2018 at 8:00 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim stated that sometime during the overnight hours an unknown person had removed money and personal property from the vehicle. This case remains open.

On 11/12/2018 at 4:35 pm, police responded to First Street for a structure fire. The fire was extinguished by firefighters from Dunellen and Middlesex. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dunellen Police Department and the Middlesex County Fire Marshall’s Office.

On 11/10/2018 at 11:11 am, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a person, previously banned by the business, inside harassing employees. The suspect fled prior to police arrival and could not be located.

On 11/9/2018 at 11:23 am, patrol responded to High Street for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported damage to the rear storm door of the residence.

On 11/8/2018 at 7:44 am, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of theft. The victim reported that she was supposed to have received a delivery during the previous day; however it appears the item was stolen from the front step of the apartment building where it had been left.

On 11/6/2018 at 5:18 pm, a Harmony Township resident was arrested and processed on charges of possession of heroin and endangering the welfare of a child in relation to an incident on 10/4/2018. He was taken into custody upon his release from the Somerset County Jail. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail on the above charges.

On 11/3/2018 at 5:39 pm, police responded to Lincoln Avenue for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that sometime during the previous day, an unknown person had caused damage to the driver’s side mirror of her parked vehicle.
