On 9/30/2018 at 11:31 pm, a Dunellen resident and a Scotch Plains resident were arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Prospect Avenue. The Dunellen resident was found to have a warrant out of Dunellen; the Scotch Plains resident, a warrant out of Plainfield. Both were brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. The Dunellen resident was released after posting bail and the Scotch Plains resident was turned over to the Plainfield Police Department.
On 9/29/2018 at 10:01 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Because he had a warrant for his arrest out of North Plainfield, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving a new court date.
On 9/29/2018 at 1:51 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Front Street. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.
On 9/28/2018 at 12:49 am, a North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was brought to Green Brook Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.
On 9/27/2018 at 1:17 pm, police took a walk-in report of harassment from a Dunellen resident. The victim reported a series of on-going harassment.
On 9/26/2018 at 4:40 pm, police took a walk-in report of theft from a Dunellen resident. The victim reported that an unknown person had stolen her cable box several weeks earlier.
On 9/22/2018 at 6:26 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of attempted arson to a garage.
On 9/22/2018 at 2:05 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a theft. The victim wished to report that an unknown person had taken her property.
On 9/22/2018 at 1:46 am, an Iselin resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was brought to Green Brook and Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.
On 9/21/2018 at 6:40 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.
On 9/19/2018 at 10:42 am, police responded to Mountainview Terrace for a theft report. The victim reported that several checks issued and mailed were cashed by an unknown person.
On 9/18/2018 at 8:35 pm, a Dunellen resident was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to an incident at a South Washington Avenue business after he was alleged to have exposed himself in the establishment. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later transported to Robert Wood Johnson Somerset for a medical evaluation.
On 9/18/2018 at 10:45 am, an Elizabeth resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. Having warrants out of Edison, Woodbridge, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Union County Sheriff’s Office on their warrant.
On 9/17/2018 at 1:10 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples following a motor vehicle stop on Walnut Street. She was brought to Middlesex Police Department for processing and later released to a sober family member.
On 9/15/2018 at 6:46 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested for criminal trespass following a call to police on Whittier Avenue. The caller reported entering her vehicle and beginning to drive off before noticing a man in the rear seat of her vehicle which had apparently been left unlocked. When she pulled over to call police, he fled the car but was quickly located by police. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.
On 9/14/2018 at 10:29 pm, two Paterson residents were arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. One had warrants out of Piscataway and Fair Lawn while the other had a warrant out of South Bound Brook. Both were brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail and receiving new court dates.
On 9/14/2018 at 6:21 pm, police received walk-in report of credit card fraud from a Dunellen resident.
On 9/14/2018 at 7:50 am, police responded to South Madison Avenue for the report of criminal mischief. The caller reported that she had located a softball jammed in the drainpipe of her sump pump which had caused it to flood the basement.
On 9/13/2018 at 12:35 pm, a Raritan resident was arrested and charged with Forgery following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was operating a vehicle displaying a fraudulent temporary registration. Additionally he was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Hillside and South Bound Brook. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail and receiving new court dates.
On 9/13/2018 at 9:20 am, police responded to Penfield Place for the reported theft of services. The victim reported hiring a contractor for a remodel which was never finished.
On 9/10/2018 at 6:56 am, police received a walk-in report of criminal mischief. The victim reported scratches upon his vehicle which had been parked on North Avenue.
On 9/9/2018 at 11:15 am, a Pennsylvania resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Green Brook. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Green Brook Police Department on their warrant.
On 9/7/2018 at 2:30 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a residence. The victim returned from vacation to find that an unknown person had forced entry to the rear door and ransacked the apartment, stealing several items of value. This case remains open.
On 9/6/2018 at 11:04 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Prospect Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Hunterdon County. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Somerset County Jail.
On 9/5/2018 at 6:41 pm, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of a burglary to a residence. The victim reported that an unknown person had entered his apartment via the bathroom window and stolen a laptop, tablet, and check book. This case remains open.
On 9/4/2018 at 11:50 pm, police on Dunellen Avenue received an automatic license plate reader notification for a vehicle parked nearby indicating that it was stolen. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen out of Middlesex and Middlesex Police responded to secure the car.
On 9/4/2018 at 3:23 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed his vehicle and damaged the steering column, dashboard, and gear selector. This investigation remains open.
On 9/4/2018 at 3:08 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on West Fourth Street. The man, who was riding in the car without wearing a seat belt, was found to have an active warrant out of Piscataway. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.
On 9/4/2018 at 1:15 pm, police responded to Dunellen Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed his parked vehicle and caused damage to the steering column. This investigation remains open.
On 9/3/2018 at 5:41 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that someone had accessed his vehicle and attempted to remove the radio.
On 9/3/2018 at 9:09 am, police responded to Front Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed his vehicle, breaking open the steering column and exposing wires. This investigation remains open.
On 9/3/2018 at 2:26 am, police responded to Columbia Park for the report of a fire near the baseball field. Officers located and extinguished a 3-foot diameter circle of grass on fire. The scene was later turned over to the Dunellen Fire Department.
On 9/3/2018 at 1:18 am, police responded to First Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that a family member had come outside and noticed movement inside of her vehicle. He opened the passenger side door and two persons fled from the vehicle, leaving behind several of their belongings and tools. The unknown persons were in the process of tearing open the steering column and stripping wires in an attempt to steal the vehicle. This investigation remains ongoing.
On 9/1/2018 at 11:33 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with obstructing the administration of law, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts) following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date. Middlesex County Sheriff’s Narcotics Detection Unit assisted.
On 9/1/2018 at 10:15 pm, a Bridgewater resident was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a person whom had punched out a window. He fled on foot prior to police arrival but was recognized by officers from surveillance footage and charged.
On 9/1/2018 at 11:57 am, police received a walk in report of a suspicious incident. The victim, a Dunellen resident, reported that an unknown person had contacted his cell phone provider and authorized transfer of his phone numbers to a new account and that the victim no longer had access to his number.
On 9/1/2018 at 11:43 am, police responded to Second Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle and Theft. The victim reported that an unknown person had entered her vehicle, and caused damage to the ignition. Additionally, two credit cards and some small change were also stolen. The credit cards were later recovered in the possession of the same suspect from the prior incident and investigation remains ongoing.
On 9/1/2018 at 8:57 am, police responded to North Washington Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had recently accessed her car and once inside caused damage to the steering column, wiring, and ignition in an attempt to steal the vehicle. Later investigation provided a clear view of the suspect from surveillance footage and investigation remains ongoing.
