Dunellen Police Report | April 2018

On 4/28/2018 at 5:06 pm – A Scotch Plains resident was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia following investigation into an incident on 4/28/2018 at approximately 1:15 am. Surveillance footage captured the man burglarizing a motor vehicle almost immediately after release for a prior arrest (see item below). He was re-apprehended, brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 4/27/2018 at 11:58 pm – A Scotch Plains resident was arrested and charged with theft following investigation into an incident at a North Avenue business at approximately 9:15 pm. He was identified as the actor seen on surveillance footage and the stolen item was recovered. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 4/23/2018 at 11:33 pm – A South Plainfield resident was arrested and changed with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of a North Avenue business. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released to a sober party.

On 4/22/2018 at 1:36 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a pedestrian stop for jaywalking on North Avenue. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Westfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Westfield Police Department on their warrant.

On 4/21/2018 at 11:05 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Jersey City. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 4/20/2018 at 10:09 pm – A South Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 4/20/2018 at 12:03 pm – A Jersey City resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. She was found to have an active warrant for her arrest out of Union Township. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 4/18/2018 at 1:05 pm – Police responded to Orange Street for the report of harassment.

On 4/17/2018 at 9:32 pm – An Edison resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Oak Parkway. She was found to have an active warrant for her arrest out of Woodbridge. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 4/17/2018 at 1:57 pm – A North Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen, brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, and later released after posting bail.

On 4/17/2018 at 10:44 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by patrol in front of Station Plaza and known to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 4/16/2018 at 10:43 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a pedestrian stop for littering. Because he had warrants out of East Brunswick and South Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to East Brunswick Police Department on its warrant.

On 4/16/2018 at 9:32 pm – An Edison resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Oak Parkway. She was found to have an active warrant for her arrest out of Woodbridge. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 4/16/2018 at 6:20 am – Police responded to the Dunellen High School for the report of criminal mischief. An unknown person caused damage to one of the doors. This incident remains open.

On 4/15/2018 at 2:35 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 4/14/2018 at 8:21 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with violation of a court order and contempt of court for a South Plainfield warrant following police response to an incident on Front Street. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 4/14/2018 at 1:16 pm – Police responded to Oak Parkway for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had sliced one of the window screens to the residence.

On 4/14/2018 at 7:19 am – Police responded along with the Dunellen Rescue Squad to a residence on Orange Street for the report of an unresponsive person. Patrol observed a woman unresponsive and exhibiting signs of an opioid overdose. Patrol officers administered two doses of Narcan Naloxone and the victim successfully regained consciousness. She was transported to Robert Wood Somerset for further evaluation.

On 4/13/2018 at 10:11 am – Police received a walk-in report of theft from a resident of Prospect Avenue. The victim reported the theft of currency and several electronic items. This incident remains open.

On 4/12/2018 at 10:30 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have warrants for his arrest out of South Plainfield and Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to South Plainfield Police Department on its warrants.

On 4/10/2018 at 7:36 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following police response to an incident at the Dunellen Public Library. He was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Bound Brook and Union Township. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving new court dates.

On 4/9/2018 at 4:37 pm – Police received a walk-in report of identity theft of a Dunellen resident.

On 4/8/2018 at 5:38 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have warrants out of Piscataway, Edison, and Plainsboro. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 4/8/2018 at 10:19 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Because she had several warrants for her arrest out of South Plainfield, she was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters and released after posting bail.

On 4/8/2018 at 12:02 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 4/7/2018 at 10:19 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a bicycle stop on North Avenue. Investigation revealed that he had warrants out of Dunellen and Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 4/6/2018 at 2:14 pm – Police responded to a North Avenue business to investigate a shoplifting incident which occurred the night prior. This incident remains open.

On 4/6/2018 at 1:17 am – Police assisted NJ Transit in locating the victim of a train strike several hundred feet east of the Dunellen Train Station. The Green Brook Police Department and Dunellen Rescue Squad also aided. The victim was pronounced dead on scene. Investigation into this incident was turned over to the NJ Transit Police Department.

On 4/5/2018 at 10:44 pm – A North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Middlesex County Sheriff’s K-9 unit assisted in locating the drugs hidden within the dashboard of the vehicle. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 4/4/2018 at 9:04 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Green Brook. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 4/3/2018 at 4:28 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. An investigation revealed that the woman, a passenger in the vehicle, had several warrants for her arrest out of Dunellen. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 4/2/2018 at 10:59 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on New Market Road. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Old Bridge. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.
