Free career-focused courses available to Middlesex County residents

All Middlesex County residents can now take classes, train for new job opportunities and even prepare for various career certifications all for free and all from home with the introduction of SkillUp Middlesex.

Middlesex County has launched this free online learning platform that offers over 4,500 courses provided by Skillsoft, a nationally recognized training provider. It builds on the programs offered through the County Office of Workforce Development’s One Stop Career Centers in New Brunswick and Perth Amboy.

SkillUp Middlesex delivers flexible, self-paced learning. Users can train for essential workplace skills, study job interview talking points and search for employment opportunities nationwide. They also can explore career pathways, prepare for industry recognized certifications, and participate in hundreds of professional development courses.

Residents can access the program through the County’s website www.middlesexcountynj.gov. Search SkillUp. To use SkillUp Middlesex, residents must have access to a computer with Internet access, have intermediate computer skills, and be self-motivated.

The Middlesex County Office of Workforce Development provides job training and placement services to adults, dislocated workers, and out of school youth (ages 16-24). Programs are funded by the United States Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. Middlesex County’s Comprehensive Career One-Stop Centers are located at 550 Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick, and 161 New Brunswick Avenue in Perth Amboy.
