Dunellen Police Report | January 2016

On 1/31/16 @ 2:37am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with DWI, underage DWI and resisting arrest following a motor vehicle stop on Columbia Street. The vehicle was stopped for driving recklessly on South Washington Avenue. The driver was found to be intoxicated and arrested. He then pushed an officer and attempted to get back to his vehicle. He was restrained and then placed into the rear of the patrol car to be brought to headquarters. The suspect was then processed and later turned over to a sober party.

On 1/30/16 @ 11:40pm – A West Windsor resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. The vehicle was stopped after a random plate check revealed that the owner had a suspended license and two active warrants out for his arrest. He was arrested, processed and later turned over to Plainfield Police Department for one of his warrants.

On 1/28/16 @ 2:14am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court after being stopped while riding a bicycle without a light on it on North Avenue. A check of the suspect’s name revealed two active warrants for the suspect’s arrest. The suspect was processed and later turned over to Piscataway Police Department on his warrants.

On 1/27/16 @ 12:59am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with DWI and possession of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for making an illegal right on red. The suspect was found to be intoxicated and a bag of suspected marijuana was found inside of the vehicle. The suspect was processed and later released.

On 1/26/16 @ 1:53am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with theft for stealing a cell phone from a bar. The suspect had taken the victim’s phone and fled the bar, which was caught on surveillance video. The suspect was processed and later transported to Middlesex County Jail.

On 1/25/16 @ 12:36am – A Carteret resident was arrested and charged with DWI and three counts of possession of a weapon following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for going through a red light at the intersection of North Avenue and Washington Avenue. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. Inside his vehicle a stun gun, brass knuckles and a knife were found. The suspect was processed and later transported to Middlesex County Jail.

On 1/21/16 @ 6:10pm – A South Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property after she was found driving a stolen motor vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of a dealership in Summit. The suspect was processed and later released.

On 1/19/16 @ 1:57am – A North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court after patrol stopped him for walking in the center of North Avenue. The suspect was found to have an active warrant and was arrested, processed and later posted bail.

On 1/17/16 @ 11:55pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for having tinted windows, a broken tail light and swerving over the lane dividers. The passenger in the vehicle had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. He was processed and later turned over to Middlesex County Jail.

On 1/17/16 @ 9:11pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with theft after the victims came into headquarters to report a gift card and $50 in change missing from their home. The suspect was in the home unsupervised earlier in the day and the items were found missing after she left. After speaking with the suspect she admitted to stealing the items. She was processed and later released.

On 1/17/16 @ 12:37am – A Bound Brook resident was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Walnut Street. The vehicle was stopped for making an illegal right on red. The driver was found to be intoxicated and arrested. He was processed and later released to a sober party.

On 1/14/16 @ 8:14pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with DWI and disorderly conduct following a motor vehicle stop on Gertrude Terrace. The vehicle was stopped for driving without its headlights on and for making an illegal right on red. The driver was found to be intoxicated and became disorderly during the traffic stop. He was arrested and brought to headquarters to be processed where he was found to be over double the legal limit. He was later released to a sober party.

On 1/14/16 @ 1:42am – An Old Bridge resident was arrested and charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for swerving over the lane dividers on Washington Avenue and for almost striking several parked vehicles. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested, processed and later released to a sober party.

On 1/13/16 @ 5:19pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with shoplifting. Patrol was called to a North Avenue business for a report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival they found the suspect attempting to leave the store with stolen merchandise. The suspect was arrested, processed and later released.

On 1/5/16 @ 11:54pm – A Perth Amboy resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The vehicle was stopped after a random plate check revealed multiple warrants for the owner’s arrest. The suspect was stopped and arrested without incident. He was processed and later turned over to Perth Amboy Police Department for his warrants.

On 1/3/16 @ 3:30am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a call to the 300 block of Front Street for a noise complaint. The suspect was found playing music loudly in his vehicle. His name was checked and a no bail warrant was found for his arrest out of Essex County. He was arrested, processed and later turned over to Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
