The 66th Annual Halloween Parade was held on Sunday, October 25. After over six decades, there have been a few changes: the parade is no longer held on Halloween night, silver dollars aren’t given out to participants, and this year instead of walking past through the downtown, the parade had a new path.
As Grand Marshall, Faber School’s new principal Gary Lubisco led the parade from Lincoln Avenue to Front Street to Washington Avenue to Dunellen Avenue. He was escorted by the Dunellen High School band, Mayor Bob Seader, members of the Dunellen Recreation Commission, and numerous costume contest entrants. Police, fire, and rescue squad vehicles flanked the ends of the parade, protecting participants. Several long-time locals were surprised by the change, waiting on North Avenue.
