Walgreens will be closing its Middlesex, NJ location on Friday, February 27. The pharmacy was one of the few Drug Fair locations that were purchased by Walgreens, prior to Drug Fair declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009. Prescription orders will be transferred to the chain’s Green Brook site on Warrenville Road and Route 22. Other nearby locations include Piscataway and Bound Brook.
Items that will not be making the move to Green Brook, including summer clothing, school supplies, and children’s toys have been sharply discounted.
Walgreens is not the only store leaving the strip mall. East Star, a Chinese restaurant which had been feeding the Middlesex community for over twenty years, closed its doors for the final time earlier this month.
