The official results from the Middlesex County Board of Elections are in. The school bonding proposal was approved, 463 to 230. This will now allow the Dunellen School District to undertake the renovation and upgrades of Dunellen’s three schools, and expend and issue bonds to the amount not to exceed $23,800,000.00 in order to fund the project. Approval of the question also permits the Board of Education to use $5,827,996 of the $10,322,280 borrowing margin of the Borough of Dunellen. The State of New Jersey will provide debt service aid to cover 57.03% of the total project’s cost of $31.3million.
About 15% of Dunellen’s eligible voters showed up at the polls yesterday or previously mailed in their provisional ballots.
