Dunellen Police Report | October 2019

On 10/31/2019 at 9:22 pm, police responded to Madison Avenue for the report of a bicycle theft. The victim reported that an unknown person had removed the unsecured bicycle.

On 10/30/2019 at 2:51 pm, police received a walk-in report of fraudulent checks. The victim, a Dunellen resident, reported being the victim of a scam and cashing fraudulent checks, as well as sending the scammers more money.

On 10/30/2019 at 1:58 pm, police received a walk-in report of fraud. The victim, a Dunellen resident, reported purchasing gift cards which were sent to a scammer.

On 10/27/2019 at 8:59 pm, police responded to Front Street for the report of cyber harassment. The victim wished to document several recent incidents.

On 10/26/2019 at 8:57 am, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting which had occurred the night prior at 11:12 pm. Video showed a male placing merchandise into a gym bag and leaving without paying. Upon review of the footage, the suspect was identified as a Camden resident. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On 10/25/2019 at 8:31 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court after police responded to South Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. He was found to have a no-bail warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Plainfield Police Department.

On 10/25/2019 at 5:09 pm, police responded to North Avenue for the report of a verbal dispute in the roadway. Both involved persons were told about the process for signing traffic complaints with the court.

On 10/25/2019 at 4:34 pm, police received a walk-in report of a lost passport. The incident was documented.

On 10/25/2019 at 9:59 am, two people were arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of a North Avenue business. The woman had warrants for her arrest out of Woodbridge and Piscataway. The man had warrants out of Plainfield and Piscataway. Both were brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving new court dates.

On 10/20/2019 at 11:27 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop in which she provided a  false name and date of birth in order to conceal a suspended driver’s license. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance notice.

On 10/18/2019, a Dunellen resident was charged with false reports to law enforcement (4th degree) following investigation into allegations received on 10/9/2019 which were found to have been fabricated. He was sent a court appearance notice.

On 10/15/2019 at 9:49 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Staff reported that they had confronted a man, whom had concealed items under his jacket. Upon being confronted, he fled on a bicycle west on North Avenue.

On 10/15/2019 at 2:28 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft. The victim reported mailing a check which was not received by the intended recipient and later cashed for a much larger amount.

On 10/15/2019 at 11:40 am, police received a walk-in report of a dog bite. The victim, a delivery driver, wished to report that he had been bitten by a dog on Jackson Avenue on 10/10/2019.

On 10/14/2019 at 11:16 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue for speeding. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing where he refused to provide samples. He was later released to a sober friend.

On 10/14/2019, a Plainfield resident was charged with receiving stolen property following investigation into an incident on 9/16/2019 in which he utilized a stolen credit card at a North Avenue business. He was mailed a court appearance notice.

On 10/12/2019 at 10:15 pm, police responded to a North Avenue restaurant for the report of theft. The business reported a large group which left after paying only a small portion of their tab, leaving an outstanding balance.

On 10/12/2019 at 11:27 am, police responded to Third Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed the vehicle during the previous night and removed items.

On 10/12/2019 at 9:38 am, police responded to Fourth Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed their unlocked vehicle at 3:35 am, based on review of security footage, and removed items.

On 10/12/2019 at 3:41 am, a North Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following response to a crash on South Ave in which he struck a parked vehicle. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 10/11/2019 at 3:13 pm, police received a walk-in report of identity theft. The victim, a resident of South Avenue, reported that an unknown person had opened a utility account in his name.

On 10/11/2019 at 11:06 am, police received a walk-in report of a lost driver’s license. The victim reported losing her license while jogging on North Avenue.

On 10/7/2019 at 8:56 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft. The victim reported that he had set down his wallet containing his driver’s license and credit card at Columbia Park while working out. When he returned, the wallet was gone.

On 10/7/2019 at 5:59 pm, police responded to Lehigh Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that she had left her vehicle unlocked with the key in the center console. An unknown person had accessed the vehicle the night before and removed the key.

On 10/7/2019 at 5:28 pm, police responded to Lehigh Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had accessed her unlocked vehicle the night prior and removed a purse containing U.S. Currency as well as several debit and credit cards. The victim further reported several fraudulent charges on those cards. This case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

On 10/7/2019 at 5:24 pm, police received a walk-in report of burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim, a resident of Fairview Avenue, reported that an unknown person had accessed her unlocked vehicle the night prior and removed several items.

On 10/7/2019 at 11:31 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after police received a tip that he was in the area and had a no-bail warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen. He was apprehended without incident and remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 10/6/2019 at 5:13 pm, police received a walk-in report of bicycle theft. The victim, a resident of Front Street reported that an unknown person had removed a bicycle from the backyard.

On 10/5/2019 at 2:01 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property following a motor vehicle stop on Walnut Street. He was operating a vehicle that was recently reported stolen and the car contained recent shoplifting proceeds from an incident in Middlesex. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance notice.

On 10/5/2019 at 1:08 am, police responded to Walnut Street for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that her property had been egged several times now.

On 10/5/2019 at 12:45 am, a Maryland resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.
