On 7/31/2019 at 5:30 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with driving while suspended for DWI following investigation into a motor vehicle stop on 7/21/2019. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.
On 7/30/2019, a Piscataway resident was charged with theft of movable property following investigation into an incident reported on 6/20/19 outside of a North Avenue business. He was sent his charges at the Union County Jail where he is currently detained on unrelated charges.
On 7/30/2019 at 2:44 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop. Since she gave several fictitious names to conceal warrants for her arrest out of Plainfield and Newark, she was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving new court dates.
On 7/29/2019, a Bound Brook resident was charged with defiant trespass and theft of movable property following investigation into a reported burglary reported on 12/25/2018. He was served with his summons in the Somerset County Jail where he is currently being held on unrelated charges.
On 7/29/2019 at 2:51 am, police responded to a report of an aggravated assault. The victim reported that he observed a man and a woman in an altercation outside of a North Avenue business and attempted to intervene. The man then struck the victim in the face causing a broken nose. The victim fled to his residence before contacting police. This case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau.
On 7/27/2019 at 12:50 pm, police received a walk-in report of fraud. The victim reported receiving a telephone call advising her that her accounts were under attack from hackers and that they needed gift cards to stop. The victim sent the money to the unknown suspect.
On 7/26/2019 at 10:31 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, obstruction, possession of alcohol by a minor, and disorderly conduct after police response to Bound Brook Road business for the report of an intoxicated male throwing beer bottles and causing a disturbance. When he was located hiding nearby, he provided officers with several fictitious names before being properly identified. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance date.
On 7/26/2019 at 9:39 pm, a Green Brook resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples following an investigation into a hit and run motor vehicle accident on Bound Brook Road. He had struck two vehicles before fleeing the area. A witness was able to follow him into Green Brook where he then fled on foot into a wooded area before being apprehended by police. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing where he refused to provide breath samples and was later turned over to a sober family member.
On 7/26/2019 at 2:16 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. The business reported that a male had just stolen merchandise and fled on foot towards Plainfield prior to police arrival.
On 7/25/2019 at 1:15 pm, police responded to a South Avenue business for the report of theft by deception. The victim reported that his business had sent a wire transfer to an unknown individual whom had purported to be a regular business vendor. This case remains open.
On 7/24/2019 at 6:56 pm, police responded to North Avenue for the report of a bicycle theft. A witness reported that a man picked up the bicycle and fled south on Prospect Avenue. This case remains open.
On 7/24/2019 at 12:52 am, police responded to Whittier Avenue for the report of illegal dumping. The victim reported that his neighbor had dumped grass clippings on his lawn, as captured on video surveillance. The neighbor later cleaned up the clippings.
On 7/22/2019 at 4:01 pm, police received a walk-in report of identity theft from a Dunellen resident. The victim reported that an unknown person had opened a line of credit in their name and charged purchases to the account.
On 7/21/2019 at 12:38 am, a Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue for speeding. Because she had several warrants for her arrest out of South Plainfield, she was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after being issued a new court date.
On 7/19/2019 at 8:48 pm, police received a walk-in report of harassment. The victim reported receiving multiple threats and phone calls from an acquaintance.
On 7/19/2019 at 4:51 pm, police received a walk-in report of sexual assault. This case remains under investigation.
On 7/19/2019 at 1:17 am, police responded to Walnut Avenue for the report of a woman collapsed on the sidewalk. Officers from Dunellen and Piscataway arrived and administered Narcan prior to turning over the victim to the Dunellen Rescue Squad for transport to the hospital.
On 7/18/2019 at 12:41 am, police responded to North Avenue for a welfare check. The caller there reported that another individual, believed to be in Bound Brook, had sent several suicidal messages. With the assistance of Bound Brook Police Department, the individual was located and was transported for a medical evaluation.
On 7/13/2019 at 7:58 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose after police response to an incident on Front Street. The victim reported that the resident had broken his fence and used an axe to smash the victim’s stereo while yelling “Welcome to America!” Police quickly located him nearby, securing the weapon. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.
On 7/13/2019 at 2:32 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Sanford Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.
On 7/12/2019 at 11:12 pm, a Branchburg resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples following a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of a North Avenue business. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and declined to provide breath samples. He was later released to a sober family member.
On 7/12/2019 at 12:16 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Dunellen Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Green Brook. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Green Brook Police Department on their warrant.
On 7/11/2019 at 1:44 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Since she had a warrant for her arrest out of South Plainfield, she was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a new court date.
On 7/10/2019 at 1:56 pm, police received a walk-in report of identity theft. The victim, a Dunellen resident, reported that an unknown person had opened a utility account in their name and racked up unpaid charges.
On 7/8/2019 at 6:11 pm, police responded to the Dunellen Train Station for the report of criminal mischief. The caller reported that the window to their vehicle had been smashed. No items of value were found to have been stolen.
On 7/8/2019 at 3:28 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of terroristic threats. The staff reported that a customer, a Dunellen resident, had left several voicemails with death threats after indicating that he was unhappy with their service.
On 7/7/2019 at 7:09 pm, police received a walk-in report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had caused damage to his vehicle.
On 7/7/2019 at 4:29 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a person having difficulty breathing. While EMS administered treatment, police located folds of heroin, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a vial of urine. The items were secured for destruction and the patient was transported for medical treatment.
On 7/7/2019 at 2:30 am, a Fords resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of a North Avenue business in which he was a passenger not wearing a seatbelt. He was found to have warrants out of Woodbridge, Union Beach, and Highlands Borough. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Union Beach Police Department on their warrant.
On 7/6/2019 at 10:22 pm, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the administration of law after interfering with officers investigating a separate incident. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a family member after receiving a court appearance date.
On 7/6/2019 at 1:23 am, a Georgia resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Prospect Avenue. Police had been dispatched by staff at a North Avenue business after they unsuccessfully attempted to stop her from getting behind the wheel. Her car was located on Prospect Avenue traveling at a high rate of speed. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.
On 7/5/2019 at 3:44 pm, police received a walk-in report of theft from a resident of North Avenue. The victim reported that while he was away, an acquaintance who has a key to the apartment entered and stole U.S. Currency.
On 7/5/2019 at 12:53 pm, police responded to North Avenue for the report of a special needs juvenile wandering in the roadway. The child was safely returned to her parents again.
On 7/3/2019 at 8:40 pm, police responded to South Avenue for the report of a special needs juvenile wandering in the roadway. Through investigation, the juvenile’s parents were located and the child returned.
On 7/2/2019 at 9:11 pm, police responded to Whittier Avenue for the report of theft. The victim reported that a group of three juveniles had stolen two unsecured bicycles from her front porch and also discarded two bicycles in their place. The discarded bicycles were secured.
On 7/2/2019 at 6:15 pm, police received a report of kidnapping. The victim reported that she had received a phone call from an unknown individual claiming to have kidnapped several of her family members and demanding ransom money be wired. After sending the money, she then contacted police. Through a rapid investigation, police was able to locate all of the supposed kidnapping victims who were confirmed not to have been kidnapped and in no harm. It was determined that this had been a phone scam.
On 7/1/2019 at 10:25 am, police responded to Bound Brook Road for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported a flat tire on her parked vehicle and was convinced it was the result of tampering. However, police could not locate any malicious damage.
