Dunellen Police Report | May 2019

On 5/30/2019 at 12:08 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Staff reported a female juvenile entering the store the day prior and stealing several items. This case remains open.

On 5/29/2019 at 7:43 pm, police responded to the intersection of North and Washington for the report of a vehicle which had struck a building, causing significant damage, and then fled. With the assistance of Plainfield Police Department, they were able to locate the fleeing driver, a Plainfield resident. He was charged with driving while intoxicated in their jurisdiction. Several summonses were issued related to the incident in Dunellen.

On 5/29/2019 at 12:01 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He gave officers a fictitious identity in order to avoid arrest for warrants out of South Plainfield and Clifton. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with new court dates.

On 5/28/2019 at 7:03 am, police responded to South Washington Avenue for the report of theft. The contractor at a construction site reported several items had been stolen.

On 5/28/2019 at 3:07 am, police investigated an unoccupied vehicle near the intersection of North and Washington displaying a significantly expired temporary registration. Investigation revealed the tag to be fraudulent and the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Plainfield several days earlier. The car was returned to its owner.

On 5/27/2019 at 10:36 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and possession of a fraudulent ID card following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue at the Plainfield border. Additionally she was found to have a warrant for arrest out of Plainfield. She provided officers with a fictitious identity to conceal the warrant for her arrest. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with court appearance dates.

On 5/24/2019 at 3:15 pm, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Staff reported that a short while earlier, a small group of juveniles had entered the store and stole several items. This case remains open.

On 5/23/2019 at 1:05 am, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Dunellen Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Norwood. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after receiving a new court date.

On 5/22/2019 at 9:44 am, police took a walk-in report of theft. The victim reported that they had left an item outside of their residence several hours earlier and that it was no longer there.

On 5/20/2019 at 8:44 am, police responded to Kennedy Court and recovered a vehicle which had been reported stolen out of North Plainfield. The vehicle was secured and returned to the owner.

On 5/18/2019 at 12:50 pm, police took a walk-in report of identity theft from a Dunellen resident.

On 5/18/2019 at 6:54 am, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of criminal mischief. The business reported that an unknown person had smashed the window to a tractor parked on the property.

On 5/17/2019 at 7:49 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Plainfield Police Department on their warrant.

On 5/14/2019 at 3:54 pm, a male juvenile was arrested and charged with burglary and disorderly conduct following investigation into an incident on 4/18/2019. He was released after processing.

On 5/13/2019 at 12:31 am, a Newark resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension and false reports after providing another person’s information during a motor vehicle stop. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance notice.

On 5/12/2019 at 9:46 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in which she was a passenger. She was found to have a warrant for her arrest out of Marlboro Township. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Marlboro Township Police Department on their warrant.

On 5/12/2019 at 7:51 pm, a Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 5/10/2019 at 11:55 pm, a North Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Bound Brook Road. Because he had no-bail warrants out of Plainfield and South Plainfield, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Plainfield Police Department on their warrants.

On 5/9/2019 at 8:02 am, police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Staff reported that a female had entered the store and stolen several items.

On 5/6/2019, a Plainfield resident was mailed a summons charging him with theft of movable property following investigation into an incident on 3/28/2019 at a North Avenue business. He was issued a court appearance notice.

On 5/6/2019 at 3:19 pm, police received a walk-in report of fraud. The victim reported that an unknown person had opened a phone account in their name with outstanding charges.

On 5/6/2019 at 2:08 pm, police received a walk-in report of simple assault. The victim reported being assaulted several days earlier. He was given information on signing a complaint with the court.

On 5/6/2019 at 10:39 am, police located a vehicle parked on Pearl Place which had been reported stolen out of Edison. The vehicle was secured and turned over to Edison Police Department.

On 5/4/2019 at 11:00 pm, a Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. Because he had warrants for his arrest out of Dunellen and South Plainfield, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 5/4/2019 at 8:56 am, police responded to North Avenue for the report of criminal mischief. The business owner reported that an unknown person had knocked over several flower planters.

On 5/3/2019 at 1:24 am, a Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct following police response to a 911 hangup. He was found to have warrants out of Somerville and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. Once in custody, he attempted to kick his way out of the police vehicle, causing damage. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Somerset County Jail on the Sheriff’s Office warrant.
