Dunellen Police Report | October 2018

On 10/28/2018 at 10:37 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on West Fourth Street. He was found to have warrants out of Edison and Bound Brook. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving new court dates.

On 10/28/2018 at 3:45 pm – Police received a walk-in report of terroristic threats. The victim reported a series of threats sent via text.

On 10/27/2018 at 3:45 pm – A juvenile was arrested and charged with burglary (two counts), criminal mischief (two counts), possession of burglar’s tools (two counts), theft, fraudulent credit card Use, and receiving stolen property following investigation into several burglarized motor vehicles in September. The juvenile was processed and released to a family member.

On 10/26/2018 at 4:12 pm – Police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a patron’s purse that had been stolen.

On 10/25/2018 at 1:27 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50g following a motor vehicle stop on Walnut Street. With the assistance of Middlesex County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, marijuana was located in his vehicle. Additionally, he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Piscataway. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court appearance date.

On 10/25/2018 at 12:53 pm – Police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a person whom had passed a counterfeit bill several days earlier. This case remains open.

On 10/22/2018 at 9:47 pm – A South Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. She was found to have several warrants for her arrest out of South Plainfield. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 10/22/2018 at 12:47 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 10/18/2018 at 11:40 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing the administration of law after becoming physical with officers during a motor vehicle stop. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 10/17/2018 at 5:25 pm – Police responded to a North Avenue business for a report of shoplifting. The shoplifter fled prior to police arrival but was later identified and charges are pending investigation.

On 10/14/2018 at 10:50 pm – A South Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Woodbridge, and was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. Later, he turned over to Woodbridge Police Department on their warrant.

On 10/14/2018 at 3:19 am – An under-aged Bridgewater resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (narcotics), resisting arrest by eluding, and possession of marijuana following a motor vehicle pursuit for reckless operation. The defendant was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center.

On 10/13/2018 at 4:13 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a request from Woodbridge Police Department who had a no-bail warrant for him. He was located at a residence on Kline Place and brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing before being turned over to Woodbridge Police Department.

On 10/10/2018 at 5:07 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after police were called to a suspicious vehicle stopped on Second Street. He was transported to the hospital for processing and later released with a court date.

On 10/10/2018 at 8:44 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of a BB gun, use of an imitation firearm, and hindering apprehension following police response to a disturbance on Dunellen Avenue. Additionally, she was found to have warrants for her arrest out of South Plainfield, Green Brook, and Scotch Plains. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.

On 10/9/2018 at 9:44 pm – A Piscataway resident and a Mount Laurel resident were both arrested after a motor vehicle stop on West Fourth Street of a vehicle which was reported to be stolen out of Pennsylvania. While on the stop, the Mount Laurel resident provided the name of a relative to conceal his identity. Both persons were brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. The Mount Laurel resident was charged with hindering apprehension and false reports which incriminate another; additionally he was found to have warrants out of Greenwich Township and Manville. After receiving a court date, he was transferred to officers from the Greenwich Township Police Department. The Piscataway resident was charged with receiving stolen property and released with a court date.

On 10/9/2018 at 7:05 pm – Police responded to Front Street for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had shattered the rear window to their parked vehicle.

On 10/6/2018 at 2:40 am – A Monmouth Junction resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on Penfield Place in which he was a passenger and not wearing a seat belt. He provided a fictitious name to avoid a summons. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 10/5/2018 at 3:48 am – A Bound Brook resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident on Bound Brook Road in which she struck a parked vehicle. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 10/4/2018 at 7:46 pm – A Dunellen resident was charged with Possession of Heroin and Endangering the welfare of a child following a walk-in report at Dunellen Police Headquarters. He is currently incarcerated at the Somerset County Jail on unrelated charges and will be processed upon release.

On 10/4/2018 at 1:33 pm – Police received a walk-in report from a representative of a local bank. The bank wished to report fraudulent transactions of ATM withdrawals.

On 10/4/2018 at 8:02 am – Police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a burglary. The staff reported that an unknown person had burglarized the store during the overnight hours. This case remains open.

On 10/2/2018 at 10:05 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court after being observed by patrol in the area of Station Plaza and known to have warrants for his arrest. He had two warrants out of Dunellen as well as a no-bail warrant out of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later remanded to the Middlesex County Jail.
