Dunellen Police Report | September 2017

On 9/28/2017 at 320 pm. patrol responded to Family Dollar on North Ave for the report of a shoplifting. This incident remains open pending review of surveillance footage. Ptlm. Jonathan DeAngelo investigated.

On 9/28/2017 at 3:20 pm – Police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of a shoplifting. This incident remains open pending review of surveillance footage.

On 9/27/2017 at 5:18 pm – A Dunellen resident responded to police headquarters to report that their bicycle had been stolen from outside of the Dunellen Train Station where it had been locked to the pay phone. The bicycle’s serial number was entered into the stolen properties database.

On 9/25/2017 at 2:05 am – A resident of Grove Street reported that there was a burglary to a motor vehicle in progress. The individuals fled prior to police arrival and could not be located. No items of value were taken.

On 9/24/2017 at 5:47 pm – Police responded to North Avenue for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that they had left a window partially open and that someone had accessed the car, rummaged the contents, and removed numerous items. This incident remains under investigation by the detective bureau.

On 9/23/2017 at 1:36 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated after police observed him asleep behind the wheel on Schwartz Place, surrounded by multiple open containers of alcohol. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 9/22/2017 at 9:45 pm – Police responded to Mountainview Terrace for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that someone had entered the unlocked vehicle and removed several items of value, including a credit card which was used shortly thereafter at a local business. This incident remains under investigation by the detective bureau.

On 9/21/2017 at 11:35 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop for speeding on South Washington Avenue. He was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Lodi and Bloomfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving new court dates.

On 9/20/2017 at 5:53 pm – Police responded to a North Avenue business for the report of shoplifting. Patrol identified two juveniles who had 38 stolen items in their possession. The juveniles were turned over to a parent and a complaint was filed with the court.

On 9/18/2017 at 7:49 am – Police responded to McCoy Park and took a report concerning several acts of vandalism.

On 9/16/2017 at 10:41 pm – Police took a report of an assault which occurred sometime during the previous night. This case remains under investigation.

On 9/17/2017 at 5:29 pm – A Phillipsburg resident was arrested for contempt of court at the Dunellen train station. He was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Phillipsburg, Pohatcong, and East Newark. Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to Clinton Township Police Department in regards to a separate investigation.

On 9/14/2017 at 9:42 pm – Police responded to North Avenue for the report of an unresponsive male. Arriving officers observed signs of a heroin overdose and administered Narcan Naloxone. The patient was turned over to EMS for further care and transported to the hospital.

On 9/13/2017 at 12:59 pm – Police took a walk-in report of check fraud. This incident remains under investigation.

On 9/12/2017 at 5:04 pm – Police responded to an apartment on North Avenue for the report of an unresponsive male. Patrol observed the male exhibiting signs of a heroin overdose and administered Narcan Naloxone. With the application of the Naloxone and CPR, the man successfully regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital.

On 9/11/2017 at 8:08 pm – Police responded to First Street for the report of criminal mischief to a vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had slashed one of the tires to their vehicle sometime over the previous week.

On 9/10/2017 at 4:49 pm – Police responded to Second Street for the report of criminal mischief. The victim reported that an unknown person had broken the rear window to their parked vehicle.

On 9/7/2017 at 8:36 pm – Police responded to Walnut Street for a bicycle which had been discarded on the caller’s property. The item was photographed and secured.

On 9/7/2017 at 12:55 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts) following an investigation into a report of drug use on Fourth Street. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 9/6/2017 at 9:12 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court and criminal mischief following an investigation to an incident on Dunellen Avenue. He was found to have the following warrants: Dunellen, Piscataway, and Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

On 9/4/2017 at 11:00 pm – Police responded to Grove Street for the report of an assault. The victim reported that earlier in the evening an assault between neighbors had taken place following an argument over the theft of cash. A report was taken and the victim was advised of complaint procedures through the court.

On 9/2/2017 at 10:09 am – Police responded to a Dunellen Avenue residence for the report of criminal mischief. The victim wished to report that a neighbor had driven their vehicle on the lawn causing ruts to appear. The complaining party did not wish to file a criminal complaint with the court.

On 9/2/2017 at 1:23 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to provide breath samples following a motor vehicle accident on Walnut Street in which a parked vehicle and tree were struck. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 9/1/2017 at 2:58 pm – Police responded to a Third Street residence for the report of a bicycle theft. The victim reported that their bicycle had been stolen from their driveway and that another bicycle had been left in its place.
