In the next month, several members of the Dunellen Police Department will be looking a little hairier than normal. That’s because the department, along with several neighboring police departments, is participating in No-Shave November.
No-Shave November’s mission is to not only raise funds for cancer research and treatment but to educate the population about preventative measures. For over six years, participants around the globe have put down their razors and foregone their hair appointments, raising over $3.5 million. Funds raised in 2017 will go toward three organizations which rated well on Charity Navigator: Prevent Cancer Foundation which focuses on the prevention and early detection of cancer; Fight Colorectal Cancer which focuses on advocacy and research to end one of the deadliest cancers in America; and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which is a leader in treating and researching childhood cancer.
Last year, Dunellen participated for the first time and raised $1,500. This year, the hirsute crew is hoping to raise over $2500. Residents interested in supporting the campaign can donate at https://no-shave.org/team/DunellenPD
