Dunellen Police Report | August 2017

On 8/31/2017 at 8:02 am – Police received a walk-in report of fraud. A resident of Front Street reported that over the previous year they had been defrauded; this incident has been forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

On 8/31/2017 at 7:11 pm – Police received a walk-in report from a resident of Plainfield that her cell phone had been stolen while shopping at a North Avenue business.

On 8/28/2017 at 10:01 pm – Police responded to the report of a vehicle fire on Front Street. The arriving units located a fully involved house fire and ensured all residents had safely evacuated. Multiple fire departments responded to assist in extinguishing the blaze. The investigation has been turned over to the Middlesex County Fire Marshall’s Office.

On 8/28/2017 at 11:05 am – A resident of Prospect Avenue reported that their unlocked vehicle had been burglarized overnight.

On 8/26/2017 at 11:48 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples after officers were called to North Washington Avenue for the report of a person asleep behind the wheel, blocking the lane of travel. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 8/26/2017 at 10:30 am – Police took a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle on North Washington Avenue. The victim reported that sometime during the overnight hours, an unknown person had accessed the victim’s vehicle and rummaged through the items inside. No items of value were removed.

On 8/26/2017 at 3:16 am – A Maryland resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Bound Brook Road by patrol on a DWI enforcement patrol. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 8/26/2017 at 12:09 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit breath samples following a motor vehicle stop on Second Street after patrol observed the driver swerve into a parked car on Sanford Avenue. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 8/25/2017 at 10:26 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue for speeding. Because she had a warrant for her arrest out of Green Brook, she was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 8/24/2017 at 11:27 am – Police received a report of a bicycle that had been stolen the previous day from the rear of a North Avenue business.

On 8/24/2017 at 1:30 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue by patrol on a DWI enforcement detail. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober family member.

On 8/23/2017 at 3:48 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy following investigation into several motor vehicle burglaries on 7/30/2017. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 8/22/2017 at 5:43 pm – Police received a walk-in report of a burglary to a motor vehicle which had occurred the previous night on Fourth Street. The victim reported the theft of a bag of work tools.

On 8/22/2017 at 7:40 am – Police responded to Third Street for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. The victim reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person had accessed the unlocked vehicle and removed a small amount of U.S. Currency.

On 8/22/2017 at 6:23 am – Police responded to Front Street for the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim awoke to find their car had been stolen overnight. On 8/23/2017 at 1:25 am, Plainfield Police located the vehicle occupied by three men, all of whom fled the area upon police arrival. The vehicle was secured, evidence obtained, and the car was returned to its rightful owner. This incident remains under investigation by Det. Joe Dudley.

On 8/22/2017 at 1:41 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Lincoln Avenue. She was found to have warrants out of Middlesex Boro and Piscataway. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters and released after receiving new court dates.

On 8/22/2017 at 1:30 am – A North Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was found to have an arrest warrant out of Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 8/19/2017 at 9:41 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of prescription legend drugs (2 counts), and possession of drug paraphernalia following the investigation into the report of a suspicious person in the rear of a vacant residence on Fourth Street. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 8/19/2017 at 7:33 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension following a motor vehicle stop on Front Street. She provided officers with a fictitious name and date of birth to conceal an arrest warrant out of Plainfield. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released with a court date after posting bail on the Plainfield warrant.

On 8/17/2017 at 5:40 pm – Police took a walk-in report of a bicycle theft from the Dunellen Train Station.

On 8/16/2017 at 6:56 pm – Police responded to Fairview Avenue for the report of damage to a vehicle. The victim reported that an unknown person had smashed the passenger window to their vehicle.

On 8/16/2017 at 2:05 am – A Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. An investigation revealed several warrants for his arrest out of South Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 8/14/2017 at 10:38 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after officers were called to a North Avenue business for an intoxicated person harassing customers. He became combative and was placed under arrest. He was then transported to Somerset Medical Center due to a high level of intoxication and subsequently released with a court date.

On 8/12/2017 at 10:25 pm – Police responded to a burglary alarm on Walnut Street. Witnesses observed three men exiting the area and running to a nearby vehicle before fleeing the area towards Piscataway. The rear door to the home had been forced open and items ransacked. This case has been forwarded to Det. Dudley for further investigation.

On 8/12/2017 at 11:09 am – Police took a report of a stolen license plate. The victim, a resident of Third Street reported that the license plate to their trailer which had been parked on the roadway was stolen. A report was taken and the license plate was entered as stolen.

On 8/10/2017 at 3:49 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with two counts of theft and possession of marijuana under 50g following an investigation into a bicycle theft in progress. Additionally, a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with theft as well as possession of an imitation firearm. A third juvenile fled and has pending theft charges out of this jurisdiction. Additionally, the adult suspect was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of East Brunswick. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving court dates.

On 8/10/2017 at 12:49 pm – Police took a criminal mischief report from a resident of the Orange Street. The victim reported that an unknown person had poured soup over their vehicle and placed several rocks into the gas tank and inside of the gas cap.

On 8/10/2017 at 7:31 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with arson (3rd degree) following patrol response to Front Street for the report of an individual setting fire to a garage. She was issued a court date and released to medical staff for an evaluation.

On 8/5/2017 at 10:47 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension after providing officers with a false name and date of birth on a motor vehicle stop in order to conceal a suspended driver’s license. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 8/1/2017 at 11:38 am – A South Washington Avenue business reported the theft of four motorcycles from their property. This incident remains under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
