Dunellen Police Report | January 2017

On 1/31/2017 at 5:10 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and theft of movable property after patrol was called to a vacant home on Whittier Avenue. Officers observed the suspect in the basement of the home actively removing sections of copper pipe. Additionally, he was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Dunellen. He was remanded to the Middlesex County Jail awaiting trial.

On 1/31/2017 at 2:16 am – An Irvington resident was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 1/29/2017 at 7:22 pm – Patrol responded to Mountain View Terrace for the report of a residential burglary. Further investigation has been turned over to the detective bureau.

On 1/28/2017 at 1:31 am – A Plainfield resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated and contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Bound Brook Road. The driver was determined to be intoxicated following field sobriety testing and placed under arrest. Additionally, warrants from Plainfield, Watchung, and Scotch Plains totaling $1,750 were located. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later turned over to the Plainfield Police Department on their warrant.

On 1/27/2017 at 12:30 am – A Bound Brook resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in a South Washington Avenue restaurant’s parking lot. The investigation revealed that she had an active warrant out of Bound Brook. She was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and was later released after posting bail.

On 1/25/2017 at 2:32 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Sanford Avenue. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober party.

On 1/19/2017 at 6:15 pm – An Irvington resident and two Plainfield residents were arrested for contempt of court following the stop of a motor vehicle with no registration plate on Bound Brook Road. The investigation revealed that the Irvington resident had nine warrants for his arrest out of Elizabeth, Clark, and Union Township totaling $3,250. One Plainfield resident had a $500 warrant out of Hanover, and the other had an active warrant out of Plainfield. All three were placed under arrest and transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. Both Plainfield residents were released after posting bail. The Irvington resident was turned over to the Elizabeth Police Department on its warrants. Several pieces of suspected shoplifted merchandise were recovered from the vehicle pending further investigation.

On 1/18/2017 at 6:45 pm – A Somerville resident was arrested for shoplifting following an investigation by the detective bureau into an incident at a North Avenue store on 6/5/2016. She was processed at Dunellen Police Headquarters and released with a court date.

On 1/16/2017 at 10:24 pm – A Piscataway resident was arrested for contempt of court after officer’s responded to a reported shoplifting at a North Avenue store. The investigation revealed that he had an active arrest warrant out of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 1/16/2017 at 8:18 pm, A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on Dunellen Avenue. The investigation revealed an active warrant out of Plainfield. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail.

On 1/10/2017 at 1:39 am – Police received an automatic plate reader notification of a stolen vehicle parked on Orange Street. The vehicle was secured and returned to its rightful owner.

On 1/7/2017 at 11:43 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. He was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Bound Brook. He was placed under arrest and transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing. He was released after posting bail.

On 1/7/2017 at 4:12 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after patrol was called to the Dunellen Train Station for the report of an intoxicated person harassing the public. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 1/5/2017 at 9:51 pm – A North Brunswick resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. She was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Union Township. She was placed under arrest, transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, and was later released with a new court date in Union.

On 1/4/2017 at 12:34 am – A Plainfield resident was placed under arrest for hindering apprehension and contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop. He was stopped after the taxi cab he was operating displayed a rejected inspection sticker. The investigation determined he provided a false name to officers in order to conceal a suspended license and two arrest warrants from Plainfield. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters where he was processed and subsequently turned over to the Plainfield Police Department.

On 1/2/2017 at 9:08 am – Police responded to a North Avenue store for the report of a burglary the previous night. The investigation revealed that an unknown person had smashed the front door and stole silver from the glass case. The investigation was turned over to the detective bureau. Please contact Det. On 1/1/2017 at 5:43 am – A Riverdale resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober party.
